I can think of a handful of Android apps that I cannot use without a smartphone because the default Android experience on each device leaves a lot to be desired. This is the case with Google TV devices. Yes, the interface is clean and sharp, but only by installing some third party apps can improve the entertainment experience.
Of course, it includes a series of services you will likely use, but I want to go beyond them. These apps make my Google TV streaming device more useful, more customized and more accessible.

Project Launcher
Andy Walker / Android Authority
The Google TV interface is a power of it, but more customized, tin down UI is better for people who cannot handle the promotional disorder. That is why the Project Launcher was the first app I downloaded with Google TV for my chrome cast.
There are other Google TV launchers, but the projectvi won me with my lightweight, highly customized design. There is a procedure with more features, but I didn’t feel the need. The free version offers an amazing amount of customization.
Why do I recommend the project on the stock of Google TV Home? It uses the TV display size better, lets me select which materials to display, and offers a lot of visual specifications. It integrates into the Android TV setup without interruption, over -riding the Google TV launcher without any stitters or additional resources demands.
Attols
I like the aesthetics of Google’s TV remote design, but its argonomics leave a lot to be the desired. I have dropped it countless times this month. So, when I do not need it clearly, I use Et Tools to control my streamer.
Technically, Eight Tools is not an app that you install on your Android TV device. It is installed on your phone and controls the streamer.
Etsols are more than just one TV remote. It connects to my chromcost through wireless debugging and allows me to access, manage and control various items. This includes uninstalling unwanted programs, testing of resources, taking screenshots or video recording, and launch of other commands via terminal. This is an indispensable tool box app for my TV experience.
AT AT, Eight Tools requires a little donation fee, but considering its functionality, it is worth it.
Button maper
Andy Walker / Android Authority
I don’t see YouTube and Netflix button on Google TV remote. They look forward to re -programing facilities buttons. With the button mapper, that’s all I can do.
When I multiplied any button on a single tape, long press, or remote, the app triggers me which app or task. I mainly use these two buttons to open multiple apps.
The button is free to use the mapper and offers decent options for those who do not pay. However, small premium payment will provide you with more options to enhance your Google TV’s remote experience.
Smart tube
Smart tube is one of the best clients of YouTube for people who need more access options on Google TV. I appreciate the extensive options that enhance my YouTube experience, which includes more use options for video quality options to improve home screen layouts, subtitles leagues, buffers, and bandout use. This is very important when I travel and have limited access to the Internet.
I also like that the general profile, which is not connected to the Google Account, offers a safer date feature. This allows me to browse channels and watch videos without affecting my view library.
Lokland
Andy Walker / Android Authority
Lokland is a file transfer tool that I install on every auxiliary device -ndos, Android, iOS and beyond. Although I do not use it on Android TV daily, it helps send APK files to third party apps that I want to load saddle from my desktop or phone. He played an essential role in setting up my device.
Although I do not have much storage in my Chrome cast with Google TV, you can use it to transfer and store video or audio files to watch it on your TV later. If your device does not have a USB port for data, it is useful.
s0undtv
S0undtv is my favorite lubricant client on any platform, especially on Google TV. Like a smart tube, it also offers additional functionality and options that make the TV directly viewed to view the series.
Features include photo and multi -visitor modes, smooth navigation, and various chat and video quality options. There are also UI opportunities to better use your TV size.
Vlc
Andy Walker / Android Authority
The VLC has long been a video player in Android and Windows, so it is meaningful to use it on its chromcost with Google TV. I’ve not yet set up a jellyfin server, but VLC allows me to see the content from my Synology device that is still without turmoil. It detects content from SMB and DLNA devices, supports video and audio playback with various codecs and formats, and can be used as an external player for internet -based playlists and streams.
Google can be better video players for TV, but I appreciate the simple TV interface of the VLC. It is easy to visit with strange remote and automatically detect the material available after the startup, which makes it ideal for home and travel.
nordvpn
VPN is essential for Internet users, whether for privacy or access to content beyond regional borders. I am a Nord VPN subscriber, so I also use it on my chromcoas with Google TV.
I like the Google TV app, which feels less fola than the Windows and Android version. All options are front and center, which allows me to enter the app and get out quickly.
If you are not partial of Nord, there are many other VPN providers on Google TV. Choose your favorite for the moments you need.
TV brother
Andy Walker / Android Authority
Every Android device needs a web browser, and Google TV streams are not exempt. TV Broo is a free and open source option made for the use of Google TV remote, and it is my favorite for browsing on the big screen. It works best with the portable keyboard, but is quite usable with the default remote. It is also linked to the Ethols app that I have mentioned earlier.
For a TV browser, TV brothers are significantly rich. This is not a firefox, but it offers more straightforward navigation, user agent switcher, a browser engine selector, and re -capable of buttons for the blocking tool in the built -in ad.
These are just a handful of apps available for the Google TV interface that I love. If I have exempted an app that you cannot live without, please tell me what is the reason for installing it in the comments given below.
