In the latest update of Open AI, which labeled GPT5 as “smart, fastest, highly useful model”, the company removed the option to choose which model to use and instead of default in GPT5. The initial rollout went into some cases, which led to the GPT5 showing “Way Dumber”, according to Open CEO Sam Altman, who also opened the Reddate AMA to offer more insights about the changes. On Reddate, Altman answered a question by saying that the written standard of GPT5 is better than the previous model, but asked users if it feels true. In response, several Redditors expressed their opinion that the GPT5 felt “sterile” and “much worse” and “short and dry”. In response to preliminary screams, Altman posted on X that Openi Plus will allow users to choose between the use of GPT5 or GPT -4O.
“We certainly do not guess how many things people like in GPT -4O, even if the GPT5 performs better in most ways,” Altman said on X.
