Many Google Pixel models have faced significant battery problems in the last eight months. It has appeared in the Pixel-A series, the phones are on fire or swollen batteries. But if you didn’t know about it, I could forgive you.

Google has made a lot of effort to sweep this problem under the carpet, preferring that it does not exist and showing that this is not a big deal. However, I can’t exceed so much that you should not really let the company go away from the hook.

Do you think Google has done a good job in solving pixel battery problems?

Google’s disappointing reactions to battery issues

    David Emal / Android Authority

The issue officially began in January 2025 with Pixel 4A, when Google did not issue a mandatory update to some models. The company claims that this update is part of the “battery performance program” with curiosity. It was an interesting time, as the phone was not supported since 2023. Users quickly found that this update dramatically reduced the battery life and charging speed.

Google’s initial statement was just said that this update would “improve stability” of battery performance. At any point of the announcement post, he did not reveal that the batteries were actually released to reduce the risk of high heat. It was in the lookout for Australian consumer care, which showed the first time in March 2025, more than the battery’s heat – about three months later. This is something you want to know about whether you have Pixel 4A. According to Google’s credit, it offered a free but optional battery change. The company also offered $ 50 cash or $ 100 in Store Credit as an alternative to battery exchange.

Google also did not reveal that some pixel 4A units are at risk of battery high.

It was discovered that Pixel 4A was not alone, as Pixel 6A also had battery problems. At least five pixels 6A owners have reported that their phone caught fire, the initial complaint was at least December 2024. Google released the mandatory “battery performance program” to the affected models last month, which surprisingly reduced the charging speed and battery capacity. The company actually declared an update in its post acknowledged “the risk of heat than a potential battery”. He had no choice but to confirm the issue in the light of user complaints. Google once again offered free battery changes, cash, or store credit. But once again, the battery change is optional, and it did not remember again.

Unfortunately, there is an opportunity that the battery nerve update cannot help in some situations. A Pixel 6A owner reported the fire after installing the update. If it is confirmed, it shows that Google is not doing coffee and needs to have a mandatory battery alternative program or remember.

The latest page in Pixel 6A Saga is that Google has allegedly pulled up -to -date phones on its website. It is fully possible that the move is affiliated with the battery problem (such as, stock). But if Google’s decision is really due to battery concerns, what about the company’s point of view? Best, the company does not want to sell consumers more potentially poor pixel 6A unit, but will not really remember it. In the worst, Google believes that Pixel 6A is safe enough to keep your pocket but not so safe to sit in a warehouse.

Believe it or not, but Pixel 7A is also suffering from problems, as some users have reported swollen batteries. Thankfully, Google did a concrete thing to announce the problem. It confirmed the “unexpected battery swelling” and launched an alternative to the battery. Clearly, this is not a problem that can be addressed with the “battery performance program” update. But this turning point in the events seems to be the exception rather than the rule.

Google apparently pulled the pixel 6A phones refined from its shelves, but what will happen to the customer devices?

Although the problem is all right? The company extended this year’s e -mail response to this year:

In Pixel 9A, an inactive ingredient did not meet our strict quality standard for the device’s longevity, and instead of sending it to the ship, we decided to delay the on -shelf (SIC) and take a difficult action on a small number of affected units.

In other words, Google did not really identify the specific part of the question. The company then raised the issues announcing that its battery health relief feature would be mandatory at Pixel 9A, but it was optional on the launching devices before. Battery Health Aid is effectively manufactured based on the latest “Battery Performance Program” updates by reducing the phone’s battery capacity and charging speed in the name of long -term stability. It is not difficult to keep two and two together in the absence of proper explanation.

This lack of transparency is deeply disturbing. This would be a major violation of consumer confidence if the company deliberately launched a phone with a poor battery or battery -related section and tried to sweep it under the carpet.

Users deserve transparency on pixel battery troubles

    Ryan Hans / Android Authority

It is clear that Google has not well organized its pixel battery problems and hopefully you will forget about it. This lack of transparency is a bad PR for one. Failure to ignore a problem or to negotiate a problem does not create confidence in a company’s product. More importantly, it can fire more devices. But hey, at least you can get $ 100 store credit (or $ 50 cash) to burn your burn.

Google handling these problems as a whole is forced to think twice about buying or recommending a pixel phone, and I’m not the only one. Fellow Rob Trigs had earlier voted that he could no longer recommend a Pixel phone because of these problems. Certainly, this problem has not affected Google’s flagship devices. But the way he handled these issues on his middle -distance phone does not affect the confidence that matters on its high -end devices will improve.

In any case, it is time for Google to take steps and have been far more transparent and active about its pixel battery problems. Say what you will do about Samsung, but the company did a great job in addressing the Galaxy Note 7 Saga.
