Samsung will allegedly start producing a stacked image sensor for Apple’s iPhone 18 in Texas. According to the Financial Times, the deal with Apple will help the South Korean company avoid President Trump’s harsh prices policy and Sony will be made the only image sensor maker for iPhones, the Financial Times,
Three layer -decorated image sensor enables high -speed shooting speed and high frame rate 8K video in smartphones. On Wednesday, Apple said it was “working with Samsung in its Fab (semiconductor fabric facility) in the city of Austin, Texas to launch a modern new technology to make chips, which had never been used anywhere in the world.” The statement was part of Apple’s announcement that it was launching the US manufacturing program, which is part of a $ 600 billion investment to increase its supply chain and manufacturing in the United States.
Thursday’s report by the Financial Times has added further explanation to what Apple’s “modern technology” will mean for the iPhone 18. Apple’s move will allow President Trump to avoid fines, who announced 100 % taxes on computer chips on Wednesday, but added, “If you are building in the United States, there is no compensation.”
Samsung is investing billions to increase manufacturing in the United States, while Sony Taiwan is producing an iPhone image sensor in Japan’s Commoto under a contract with the Semicader Manufacturing Company.
Last month, CNET reports that Samsung Display Company – a separate entity of Samsung – will produce screens for the first iPhone foldable launch next summer.
