Philips Hue Playwasher: Two -minute Review
When I first looked at Philips Hue Playwasher, I saw it as an innovative alternative to Philips Hue Playlight Bars, designed to sit on both sides of your TV and add environment to your home entertainment setup. The wall washer can definitely do this – and with more environmental consequences thanks to its broader projection area – but it can do a lot.
Like a light bar, Wall Washer is a cautious visible device that is designed to position with its light source shining against the wall rather than going into the room, which produces a sparkling brightness (as revealed by the name) wash your room with color. However, unlike the playlight bar, which can show only one color at a time, each wall washer has three lights, which are decorated vertically, which are over -overlap to make smootha.
As the video below suggests, the three lights can also freely and illuminate to produce shining effects, which is a good feature if you choose to use a wall washer as a table lamp to fix the mood as part of a large Philip Hue Lighting setup.
You can use a wall washer through Bluetooth, but unlocking all its features (and justifying its value), you will also need Philips Hue Bridge. This small hub device plugs into your router and uses the Zegabi Wireless Protocol to create a mesh network that connects all your hue lights, switches and cameras to each other and the Internet.
Provided that you have this, it is straightforward to set up your wall. Just select the “Add” option inside the Hue Mobile app, scan the QR code on the basis of your wall washer when indicated and then choose a room or zone for it (if you have no one already, you will be indicated to create an area). If you have more than one wall washer, you will need to add each one separately, but it only takes a few seconds.
Once this work is done, you can change the color of each wall washer by selecting a shade from the color wheel of the app. You can also apply a preset color scheme (known as the “scene”) from the Hue Library. Make your scene by choosing colors or importing a picture. Or apply a dynamic dynamic scene such as the brightly purple effect.
You can customize your wall washer yourself, or make a view on all the lights in the room or zone.
Despite its small size, the Wall Washer projects highlight a long distance, and when it was stood on a table, I found that the color reached the roof. If you like the idea of Philips Hue Signal Floor Lamp, but not there, the wall washer will be a good alternative to the same price. Although there are only three lights in each wall washer, the colorful melanin is perfectly smooth, as you can see in the icon in the upper part of this review.
As mentioned earlier, Philips Hue Playwasher may also be compatible with your TV, and can increase the colors from the screen as the Philips Embress TV effectively faded the edges of the image effectively.
To do this, you will need at least one wall washer, in addition to either Philips Hue Play HDMI Sync box, or a smart TV that is compatible with the Philips Hue Play Sink app. The app was initially available for only selected Samsung TV, but in February 2025, (Philips Hue’s Parent Company) was identified.
The advantage of using the app is less to set up, and you can use it to compatible your Hue Lights with the content of your TV’s ancestral apps. If you use a sync box, you can only be compatible with content from HDMI sources.

As you can see in the aforementioned video and photos, when the Philips Hue Hood is connected to a set top box when using wall washer lights with the HDMI sync box, and looks natural rather than engaging the colors. Lighting is efficient, even in daylight, and Milan means that the wall washer Philips creates a more smooth look than the hue playlight bars, which can only make the colors on each side of your screen.
The main disadvantage of the wall washer compared to the Philips Hue Playlight Bar is that it just stands upright, and is not designed to ride horizontally. Thus, it is not appropriate for the use of your use under your TV. You will probably want at least two for a domestic entertainment setup (and possibly somewhere else in the room), which will be quite expensive.
If you have only one wall washer, it works with a wake -up light on your night stand. The Hue app contains automations that are designed to awaken you with an artificial sun, in which the lamp gradually becomes bright and the light cools, which reaches the full shine for a fixed time. I am very sensitive to the light at night, and the Wall Washer is the first lamp that I have found that suddenly the brightness does not make me awake. It is like a slow waking up because the camping trip comes from your tent.
At the end of the day, you can walk down with sunset automation, which runs the same setting in reverse. The aforementioned video shows five minutes of sleep in the last 20 seconds of automation, during which the light colors turn red in the orange with warm white, while gradually decreases the brightness.
Overall, this is the most versatile smart light that I have tested to date, and although it is certainly not cheap, its performance cannot be denied, in which you are also using it in the room.
Philips Hue Playwasher: Price and Availability

At the time of writing, Philips Hue Playwasher is available directly from the Philips Hue website in the United States and the UK, and directly from Amazon in the United States. It has not yet been sold in Australia, but the general questionnaire pages on the Australian Philips Hue Site shows that it is there.
The same Philips Hue Playwasher list price is 9 219.99 / £ 169.99 (about AU $ 340), and if you are thinking of using lights on both sides of your TV (as shown in some of the pictures here), you can pick up $ 384.99 / £ 299.99 (about AU $ 600).
This makes it an expensive Philip Hue Lights, but it is also the most versatile, which works as a filler light to add the environment, back light for your home entertainment system, and a waking light. Most color lights fill only one niche, so the adaptation of the wall washer makes its value more flexible.
For comparisons, Philips Hue Playlight Bar list price is $ 89.99 / £ 64.99 / AU $ 129.95 each. If you are considering a wall washer as a wake -up lamp, the cost of Philip Hue Twilled (which is facing front to read) costs $ 279 / £ 249 (about about about 430).
If you want to use wall waser with your TV, you will also need the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sink Box and Philips to Bridge, so if you are not already owned by them, make them an element in your budget calculation.

Philips Hue Playwasher: Design
Each Philips Hue Playwasher is closely synchronized, and its measurement is 6.2 inches / 15.7 cm long and 3.6 inches / 9.1 cm in diameter. This Philips is quite smaller than the Hue Playlight Bar, which stands at an 11.5 -inch / 29.2 cm altitude. But the wall washer and its better LED design mean that it can shed light on a large area.
The Wall Washer occurs aluminum case (instead of plastic for playlight bars), and it ends a great fade. It’s available in black (shown here) or white, so you can choose a option that is well found with your decoration.
The back of the wall washer has a flat surface, and it has three Philips Hue White & Color Eminee Lights that are managed vertically. It may not seem like much, but the lights get overlap in such a way that they shine a very smooth meal on your wall, with no banding.
This technology, known as the clergy, is the one used by the Philips Hue Twilight Week-up lamps-and like twilight, the wall washer can be dimmed at a very low level of use at night.
You can connect the three Philips Hua Playwasher lights with the same power supply, though they are only sold in a pack of one or two.

Philips Hue Playwasher: Consider this too
If you are not sure whether Philips Hue Playwasher is right for you, there are two other options to consider.
How did I experience Philip Hue Playwasher:
I attached Philips Hue Playwasher to my Philips Hue Bridge, and used it in different rooms of my home (alone, and as a pair). Earlier, I attached it to the Philips Hue Play HDMI Sink Box, which was connected to the digital set top box, and was tested with viewing various films and TV shows to evaluate colorful similarity and delay. Displays content from the above screen grab TickerFor the reasons for copyright, the YouTube channel channel, but I experienced lights with a variety of media.
I also used a single wall washer as a full light, as well as a pair of Philips Hua White and Color Eminee Bulb in the roof fixtures. I tested all the lights in the room with different scenes and new creation.
Finally, I tested a single wall washer on my night stand, to assess how easily the color and brightness of the light could change, and how dim it could be before the switch off. I compared its performance with a purpose -created weekend.
