- Google is developing an AI -powered information summary feature for Android to help handle great warnings from messaging apps.
- Unlike the Apple version, this feature will only summarize “conversation notifications” to improve accuracy and avoid misinterpretation of non -message warnings.
- It will warn users that there may be errors in the abstract, only long messages will be processed, and potentially specialized for Gemini Nano support devices.
Update 1, 4 August, 2025 (03:30 pm et): We have found a new animation in the Android Canary Release in July 2025, which shows the feature of Android’s upcoming information summary. Take a look:
The original article, July 8, 2025 (08:20 AM et): Information means helpful, but they can be great quickly. To indicate this, Apple introduces a notification summary feature in the iOS, and is developing a similar tool for Google Android. Although we do not yet know when this feature will be launched, we have discovered new details in the latest Android 16 son, which shows how it will work.
As we reported for the first time in March, Google is working on a feature that will summarize your information, as is like iOS 18. However, it seems that Google is taking a more concentrated approach, possibly to avoid issues that have affected Apple’s implementation. Instead of summarizing everything, Android will only summarize “conversation notifications”. These are a specific type for messages that appear in a dedicated place in the notification panel, hold their own section in the sheare sheet, and open on other apps as bubbles floating.
Since this feature is limited to conversation notifications, it should only summarize messages and group chats, not news or promotional warnings. This approach will avoid the biggest disadvantages of the Apple version, which criticized the misconduct of news articles. However, it will not solve another important challenge: Google still cannot guarantee the exact summary for conversation.
The reason for this is that the feature uses AI to create summary. Although the Generative AI is powerful, it is not perfect, which is why Android will warn users that summary can “contain errors.” Improving accuracy, the feature will only process “long messages” and “group conversation”, which will give AI more context and reduce the possibility of errors. If you get the summary of specific apps non -helpful, you can navigate them individually and disable them Settings> Notifications> Summary of Notification> Administration of Apps.

Hopefully, you will not need to do this feature micro management, as Google is designing it to be conservative. For example, we have learned that Android will only summarize information that will include 25 to 200 words, which have a cap of 50 sums a day. In addition, a summary is prepared three minutes after receiving the notification, possibly not interrupting resources protection or when it comes to consumers. Interestingly, Google is clearly excluding Gmail for now, suggests that the company is experiencing this feature in extraordinary messages. Since this feature is still in progress, these specific parameters may change before its final release.

Since this feature is not yet alive, we don’t have a demo to show, but we know what it should be like. Based on these code changes, the summary text will only appear when the notification of the conversation will collapse, with the original content likely to be shown when it is expanded. Summary itself will be of a maximum of three lines, will appear in the throat, and before the following icon.

(There is a raw joke in the image of this article that can look like this feature.
Although this app is available on many Android devices, we suspect this feature will be limited to a handful of phones that support the on -device version of Google’s AI model Gemini Nano. Given the implications of privacy, it is very likely that Gemini Nano will be used to implement information. We are guessing that this feature will begin with the next pixel 10 series before it is slipping on the old Gemini Nano’s equipment like Pixel 8 and 9, but we do not really know. We will likely find out more about Google’s rollout plans soon, and hopefully it will be accompanied by the feature of other AI -powered “notification organizer”.
