Android Auto has just received a rare design update, but not everyone is happy with it.
As part of a recent rollout, Google interfaces your content with the Android Auto music player, which matchs your phone’s wallpaper. The problem is that this dynamic album replaces art background, and some users are calling it a visual down grade.

The music player now now draws background color from your Android wallpaper instead of using the playing track album art. The purpose of this change was to bring consistency to the interface, but it has also faded the look and snatched one of the most specific visual elements of the music player. The old interface revealed the dynamic background associated with the music, while the new blender chooses the wallpaper -based palets that you are not always fitting.
The design of this design follows a wider update we have recently covered, where Android Auto formally adopted you. The update allows your car display to match your Android phone’s wallpaper color palette, which brings more integrated visual identities to the screens. Although some users appreciate Polish, it is clear that music player changes have proved controversial.
Small album art and an invasive sequence

The update also adapts the layout. Sequer has been moved to the bottom of the time stamp, and the album art is now small, which causes many people to call the empty sense of randomly-especially on portrait-based display cars.
The Reddate user Palestinian notes that the already lesser album art looks “hilariously small” on their display. Although raped sequel can reduce accidental contacts, it creates strange spacing and visual imbalance, which makes better use of space feel like a thought.
Re -designing users did not ask for
To be fair, the material is a large UI jump for your Android auto, which has traditionally been more useful and based on function. Google has also confirmed that it is also working on a light theme, climate control integration, and the features of Gemini AI sound.
But for now, it seems that refresh is a decision based on consumer feedback. And for music lovers, used for dynamic album art backgrounds, this latest change may seem like one step back and forth.
