- New steam hardware and software surveys have increased by 0.32 % in the stamus market share of valve
- Windows 11 market share of Microsoft has decreased by 0.44 %, which suggests that the gamers are migrating to stamo
- These results come before Microsoft’s new ‘Full Screen Experience’ for Xbox PC app
Microsoft’s Windows 11 2026 is on the way to get the main updates, especially for its new Xbox PC app for ‘full screen experience’. However, it seems as if the valve’s Linux operating system is gradually leading as a better operating system for gaming.
As reported via Tweet Town, the results of the Steam’s July 2025 hardware and software survey shows that the gamers are converting to Microsoft’s Windows 11 to Valve’s stamo, which has increased the Linux market share 0.32 % – while the market share of Windows 11 has decreased by 0.44 %.
Tweet Town highlights that Linux’s 2.89 % operating system market share is equivalent to about four million players out of the 132 million users of the steam, so this growth is quite important. It may also be a huge indication that since the valve introduced its steam deck back in 2022, handheld gaming has been introduced to handheld gamers.

It is quite clear that Valve’s stamus has to travel a long way in terms of its user counting, compared to Windows 11, but the Linux operating system has already crossed Windows in terms of game performance, leakage and features.
It is also worth noting that both valve and Microsoft have promised to improve their operating system. The former plans to extend the relevance of Stamus with other handhelds and desktop PCs, while Microsoft ROG is bringing the ‘full screen experience’ to handhelds, debuting on the Xbox Eli.
Analysis: I suspect the new Xbox PC app ‘Full Screen Experience’ will check the speed of stamus

As I have mentioned earlier, it is very difficult for me to see that Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox PC app will remove me from Stamus, because the latter has won me easily (at least with handhelds).
I wouldn’t say that Microsoft has no chance, and I’m definitely going to check it after it is available – but I think that when it comes to gaming, its phase is already ready to take the lead for the valve.
Using the bazite (a stamus clone), the tools UI customization is very good at my option, and perhaps most importantly, the performance of the game with Ducky framejin and the duckyless lace scaling improves the performance of the game, all through the decky loader.
Certainly, there are definitely equal tools on Windows 11, but navigation and tinkering on this operating system, Especially With a handheld, there is something I don’t want to deal with anymore. This is why this ‘full screen experience’ seems to be expected, as it looks equal to the game mode of stamus.
New efforts to improve gaming on Microsoft’s operating system have been very welcome and appreciated, and I think once it will attract a lot of concerts after the Rogue Xbox ally – but overall, I suspect it will not test stemos speed.
