The dropbox has just announced that the dropbox passwords are going to be closed on October 28. This means, five years later, the dropbox credentials are ending.

As the company says there will be a phased approach to the service shutdown. First, the password manager will only become theory from August 28, which means that you will not fill the new password, and that, the autofel features will be disabled.

After that, on September 11, the mobile app will stop working, but the browser extension will remain active by the last stage.

Basically, you have to export your data until October 28. On October 28, the dropbox will permanently delete all stored passwords, usernames and payment information from its servers.

The dropbox recommends that users transfer their credentials to 1 password -like apps before the last end date. The company is also offering export guides on its website.
According to the dropbox, this closure will allow the company to focus on enhancing the features in its basic products. We also know that dropbox passwords have faced serious competition over the past years, with 1 password, list pass, and even solutions like Apple, Google, and Microsoft. The dropbox bought the password manager Walt back in 2019. After that, the company launched a dropbox password in 2020. It was initially available for served users, but then extended to all users in 2021.

I personally think that it’s not surprising. Dropbox passwords have never really taken the same way as some other services did. Many people already use Apple, Google, or Microsoft’s built -in options.

Personally, I’m using Apple’s built -in password app, and it works a lot for me. Nevertheless, for anyone who relies on dropbox passwords, this change can be a bit trouble. At least the company is giving users time and tools to safely export everything before it is closed.
