    • The latest one UI 8 release makes it possible to reuse the Samsung Dex on the PC, though you will need a third -party device called SRCPY to do so.
    • Samsung had previously closed his “Dex for PC” application, and left users without a desktop interface dedicated to his computer.
    • An UI 8 new dex can run on a virtual display, which allows the open source SCRCP to mirror the full desktop experience in the PC.

If you have a compatible galaxy device, you can use the Samsung Dex to get experience like a desktop on the attached display. You were also able to use Dax on the PC, but Samsung ended his support with the release of the previous one UI. Fortunately, the release of the latest one UI 8 makes it possible to use the Samsung Dex on the PC again, but you will need to use a third -party device to do so.

Earlier, Samsung’s “Dex for PC” app for Macos and Windows allows you to launch a separate Dax window on your computer, which easily access your Galaxy device apps and files.

However, with the launch of an UI 7, Samsung closed the app and pushed users to Microsoft’s phone link service. Although the phone link has been firmly integrated into a UI and it can mirror your phone’s screen and apps, it lacks dedicated dex desktop interface, which some users are dissatisfied.

This new ability is exactly what allows us to use dex on the PC again, regardless of whether it is running Macos, Windows, or Linux. Using the open source tool called SRCPY, you can photograph the virtual display from your Galaxy device to your computer. This opens a new window to your computer showing a full dex interface, which you can control with your keyboard and mouse, share your clipboard, arrest audio and do much more.

Before we start, it is important to note that this method only works on galaxy devices running a UI 8 or after, as the older versions do not help display Dex on virtual display. It will not work on Google’s pixel phones, as Android 16’s desktop mode is active only when the physical external display is attached.
