- Nord VPN has launched a scam call protection feature for Android users in the United States.
- It flags the suspicious numbers, using metadata, without listening or storing the content of the call.
- This feature works with the NordVPN app and a premium plan on any Android device.
The scam calls are not diminishing and in many cases they are smart. Although most modern smartphones already do a reasonable task to flag the dubious number, Nord VPN believes it can do better. The company has just launched a new scam call protection feature for Android phone users in the United States.
In a blog post published this week, Nord VPN explained that the device analyzed metad data to detect possible fraud before you take. If it considers something suspicious, it shines a warning message with the coming number. This feature has been included with Nord VPN’s premium plan and works through the current app, whether it is connected to VPN or not. Once active in the threat protection tab, it runs quietly in the background.
If you have used a recent pixel or a Samsung phone, all this may be very familiar. Google offers to detect a built -in AI -powered scam, which includes a middle -call warning that warns you that if the conversation is similar to a scam. Samsung uses a system called smart call that can identify spam calls and even stop them at all.
Nord VPN’s approach is different in two ways. Unlike Google’s device, it doesn’t take any audio – just metad data. And while Samsung’s protection is connected to his phone software, the version of Nord VPN works on any Android device that runs its app. It is also manufactured in mind, keeping in mind, does not store call content, and it is implemented.
The company says collar ID for unknown numbers in future updates, better ratings (such as finance or healthcare), and even you will add options to report suspicious calls. It also plans to bring a scam call protection in iPhones and other countries.
You may not be able to see this feature only as a Nord VPN premium price, but the losses of scam calls in the United States last year are at the top of $ 2 billion, the defense layer may be welcomed for those already in the project.
