The trend of healthy soda does not appear to go away at any time. Last week, Pepsi announced that she would launch her soda full of pre -biotics in the fall of 2025. In March, the company also bought pre -biotic soda brand pope for $ 1.95 billion. If such a large soda market player is jumping on a healthy soda band wagon, the movement of healthy drinks is not just successful – it is also increasing.

However, with all the healthy sodes that promise low sugar, low calories, pre -biotics and more, there is a question remaining: are these sodas as healthy as they claim? To know, we asked experts.

    What is pre -biotic soda?

    Poppy

A hot moment of pre -biotic drinks is passing. Comeing up with rapid growing brands like Poopi and Olapp, Coca -Cola launched a new pre -biotic soda called simple pop. With five flavors based on natural ingredients, it can look like a healthy alternative to soda like Coke or Pepsi.

Other brands have also arrived to enter this growing market. They include:

    • Wild Vendor
    • Culture pop
    • Torvida
    • Dominate
    • Sansop (from Cambocha brand Health-ED).

David Clark, a board certified entrepreneurs, gastric specialist and president of the association for the treatment of neuroplastic symptoms, explained, “The emerging ‘functional’ tries to renovate the Sudas category. Pre -biotic types such as pope and ooliphas are included in the ropes. Ken – and low sugar content – 4 to 7 grams. “

However, he added, “Nevertheless, their health benefits are uncertain.”

This was identified by a recent case against Poopi. In the Kobus vs VNGR Beverage LLC (US District Court for Northern District California, 2024), a user brought a class action suit against the brand. The filing states that Poopi “has only two grams of pre -biotic fiber, which is very low, which means to benefit from only one cans for users.” As Clark explains, “Its two grams of pre -biotic fiber may be less than five grams of threshold needed to measure pre -biotic fiber.”

In addition, these pre -biotic soda options can come up with defects. Some have apple cider vinegar, for example, which can be bad for your teeth because of its acidity. (While the ACV can have some precision benefits – as evidenced by the number of drinks contained in it – it is better to brush your teeth after using it.)

Pre -biotic drinks are being manufactured as a healthy alternative to soda. But are they? We asked some experts if this is really a healthy soda option?

Let’s look at some of their reactions here:

    • Anastasia KoligaThe nutritionist and biologist in the app responded, “It depends on what we mean by ‘healthy’. Compared to traditional Sudas, which is laid from sugar and artificial ingredients, pre -biotic sodas looks like a better option.”
    • Dr. Rafael KoomoIs a professor at the University of California San Diego School of Medicine and a biomedical scientist and a clinical cancer expert, weighing. He says, “From a point of view of preventing life -threatening diseases like cancer and heart disease, the amount of diabetes is low.
    • Brian BattleThe founder of beer maple forms, says, “We need more research. The benefits of eating all the sources of pre -biotics are well -known, but there is a lack of peer reviewing studies on pre -biotic sodas. In addition, Stevia and Erithoritols do not understand these methods as microscopes.

The key problem is that the thing that is marketed as a gut healthy soda cannot reach the benefits you expect. The precision benefits of pre -biotics are well documented (health effects and sources of pre -biotic dietary fiber, 2018 pre -pre -biotics: definitions, types, sources, mechanisms, and clinical applications, 2019). However, many of these pre -biotic soda options only trace the amount of these fiber -based nutrients. They can’t really measure the benefits of pre -biotics from the source of food.

As Coomo explains, “Pre -biotic sodas can contribute to small quantities, but they are not the main source of meaningful pre -biotic intake. Diet with vegetables, beans and whole grains provides significantly more benefits to intestinal health, which is the risk of heart disease.”

The board certified Functional Health Practitioner, Licensed Holistic Health Practitioner and Master herbal expert Dr. Amy Alohim summarized it well: “A pre -biotic soda may not be an easy way to support intestinal health, but it should not be the only source of pre -biblitus.”

What do experts say about a healthy soda replacement

When you are looking for a healthy alternative to soda, you can keep an eye on something.

“Read the word ingredients through the word ingredients and look for sugar that reflect sugar,” said Amy Lee, a medical nutritionist and nuclear founder. Thankfully.

Coomo recommends avoiding “phosphoric acid, caramel dyeing and pharmaceuticals as well as artificial sweeteners, which can be helpful in inflammation or metabolic disruption.” He added, “Consumers should prefer less sugar content, ideally under 5 grams per service, and check the original fiber material.”

Coca -Cola launches a new pre -biotic soda, easily pop.

    Coca -Cola Company

If you want your healthy soda to support intestinal health, Clark has added further explanation to what you should find. “Check specific types of fiber (such as, anoline, galctoligosachesis (GOS)) and quantity. Advertising gut benefits of brands should significantly reveal the fiber content, ideally to exceed 4 to 5 grams per service.”

Let’s put it in a checklist when you make a shopping for a healthy alternative to soda you can use:

    • Sugar less than 5 grams
    • Four or more gram of fiber, ideally with specific types of fiber
    • No artificial sweet
    • Not artificial color
    • No savage
    • No phosphoric acid

“Pre-biotic can be a fun and refreshing method to support the health of the soda gut, but let’s keep it in the context-they are not an alternative to a high-fiber diet or digestion,” says Kalega. “Enjoy them as a routine increase, but do not rely on them as your basic strategy to improve digestion.”

How to make healthy soda at home

The pre -biotic soda you were thinking about may not work as a wonderful work for your intestinal health. If you are still looking for a better option, you can flog yourself. We tapped experts to come with some ingredients that you can meet together to make a good alternative at home.

    Soda water

Lee suggested starting with a soda water base, in which you can add natural flavors. Since water is one of the critically needed nutrients to the body, it helps your hydration levels. Clark also said that the use of unintended water helps you avoid excessive sodium and extra things.

    Pre -biotic fiber

If you want to make a healthy soda from the intestines, add pre -biotic fibers. Elhim recommends checori or acacia fiber. Coomo has also recommended the Checkori route and said that Anulin works. Clark says resistant potato starch can also imitate commercial pre -biotics.

If you do not have these specific types of fibers, Kalega says you can use a little mixed fiber -rich fruits such as kiwi or bananas.

Add enough to bring your home healthy soda into a meaningful amount of pre -biotics. The purpose of 5 grams or more.

    Natural sweet

Many alternatives to natural sugar can sweeten your soda without damaging your health. Clark suggests “Choose 1 to 2 teaspoons of raw honey or maple syrup, which provides antioxidants and detect minerals without increasing glycemic levels.”

    Sour juice

Some fresh sour juices, such as lemon or lime juice, can taste your healthy soda and provide benefits. Coomo says they introduce some antioxidants, which protect your cells.

    Herbs and spices

Elhim has suggested “adding herbs and spices like cinnamon or mint to enhance the taste and digestion. This can make your health soda more interesting without adding more sugar.

    Combocha

If you want to have some probiotic benefits with your pre -biotic, Alim has suggested that you add a splash of combooca to your beverage. This introduces more “good” bacteria to support your intestinal health.

    Root

Many of our experts recommended ginger or turmeric. Coomo says these ingredients will not only taste your healthy soda but also provide anti -inflammatory effects.

    A sample healthy soda prescription

Clark provided us a sample prescription that you can use to make a healthy alternative to soda at home. He says to combine:

    • 8 ounces of shining water
    • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
    • 1 teaspoon of rotation ginger
    • 1 teaspoon of honey
    • A pinch of sea salt

He recommends a final move for additional precision benefits: “Yeast for 12 to 24 hours to cultivate probiotics.”

    The bottom line

Healthy soda brands claims can be more defeated, especially when it comes to intestinal health. Although pre -biotic drinks can introduce some of these nutrients, they cannot cope with the entire food.

You still want to enjoy pre -biotic soda as a little cure – and a healthy alternative to traditional soda. Looking for the best, make sure you read the label carefully. You want to see a lot of fiber and only a little sugar.

But remember, as Clark says, “Consumers should see these products as occasional supplements rather than alternatives to a fiber -rich diet.”
