- Dropbox password users will not be able to add new passwords on August 28, 2025.
- The mobile app will stop working on September 11, 2025.
- The password manager will be completely closed on October 28, 2025.
Dropbox password users will soon have to find a new password manager to store their passwords, usernames and other sensitive data. The company will stop serving in the next two months.
The dropbox has announced that it is preparing to sunset its password manager. According to the help center document, it was decided so that the company “could focus on enhancing other features in our basic products.” The full service should be closed on October 28, 2025, but it will be performed in the shutdown.
It seems that users will continue to use dropbox passwords by August 28. On this date, both the mobile app and the browser will be able to read only. You will still be able to see all your information, but you will not be able to add new information. The Auto Field Function will also be disabled on this date.
The second phase will begin on September 11, when the mobile app will stop working. Although you may not be able to use the mobile app, you still have access to your information in the browser expansion.
Finally, you will lose access to both the mobile app and the browser extension on October 28. The dropbox says that on this date, it will clear all your data from its servers “permanently and safely”. So if you lose the deadline, you will have no luck in recovering your lost information. The company also says that the Dark Web Monitoring Tool will also be closed on this date.
If you are looking for a new password manager, the drop box recommends switching to the password. There is even a device to transmit your data into it. However, if you have 1 password, there are other viable password managers like the list pass or Google Password Manager.
