- Earlier this year, YouTube announced plans to bring in the US verification system in the United States.
- The tests are starting in the next few weeks, with plans to expand later.
- YouTube will use AI to flag accounts based on used samples like teenage, and ask these users to prove their age.
We are currently in the middle of a very tragic trend around the world, as online services rapidly demand that consumers positively authenticate themselves. In the UK, they all now have a group of entertainment with the online Safety Act* (not guaranteeing entertainment), and after the Supreme Court’s bad decision last month, the United States will face a new wave of similar needs. Earlier this year, YouTube shared some of its plans for age verification, and now the switch is ready to return.
In the next few weeks, YouTube will begin testing its age checking tools on a small group of American users. Instead of initially demanding a copy of your identity, this system will begin with your age -based effort to estimate your age based on the use of your YouTube.
Although YouTube is not clearly providing a detailed impairment of things that you can flag at a young age, it tries to explain in a wider stroke.
We will use AI to translate a number of signals that help us decide that the user is more than 18 years of age. These gestures include types of videos that the user is looking for, the types of videos they have seen, or the longevity of the account.
It is not difficult to read and it is not difficult to see that there are many cases where new adult accounts seeing more and more youth -based content can easily mobilize YouTube’s doubts. If this happens, it is at the point that you will have the option to share your identity or credit card copy with the site, and will prove to be your real age. If you do not do so, you will not be able to see the content on age and YouTube will activate its extra teen safety measures.
We will be very interesting to see how many YouTube viewers complain of being single based on their habits for this additional check-and how many people may feel quite embarrassed to pass through their YouTube history. Feel free to search for some videos about the establishment of 401 (K) to move beyond YouTube’s AI scans.
