It is said that the WhatsApp is checking a new feature for its Android app, making it easier to import profile photos from other existing accounts on other social media platforms. According to a discovery of the feature tracker, the quick messaging client can help import profile images directly from the meta -platform umbrella, such as Facebook and other apps under Instagram. This creates other features of the cross platform such as single sign on and unified avatar management.
Importing profile photos on WhatsApp
According to the WhatsApp feature tracker Wabetainfo, this feature is introduced as a part of the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.21.23. Once users update this version, they can access the ability to import profile photos from Facebook and Instagram to use on WhatsApp. It is reportedly found under the profile section in WhatsApp settings.

To change an image, users usually tap their profile picture and then Edit Option so far, they can take a picture with the camera, import the device from the gallery, set up avatar, or make a picture using Meta AI. However, a joint screenshot through the feature tracker indicates that two new options have been added to this menu – Facebook and Instagram.
It is believed that the profile photo used in the account related to Facebook or Instagram will be brought automatically. However, users may allegedly connect their WhatsApp account to the Meta Accounts Center. It works as a center that handles how meta’s apps are connected to each other.
So far, if a user decides to use his image from the social media platform on the WhatsApp, he can upload it from local storage. But if that was not possible, just to download the work photo from Facebook or Instagram and then upload it to the WhatsApp manually. In this way, this new integration could potentially smooth the whole process.
In the report, Wabitinfo said that the option has been closed as a default and provides users with full control of whether they want to link their accounts. Adding meta accounts together does not affect WhatsApp’s basic privacy measures, such as encryption from the end to the end.
The feature tracker claims that the feature of importing profile photos from Facebook and Instagram on WhatsApp is currently on development for Android. The only beta -testers registered by the Google Play Beta Program has access to this. It can be released in the next version of the app.
