Microsoft has begun to comply with the UK’s Online Safety Act today, indicating the Xbox players to confirm their age. Indications will be shown to Xbox Players that indicate that they are over 18 years old and will be shown when you sign in to the Xbox account in the UK. Microsoft says it is also looking to bring similar age verification tools to other countries in the future.
To give strength to age verification in the UK, Microsoft is in partnership with UT, which is one of the services that has not been a victim Death Standing Photo mode bypass. Although the age verification is now optional, they will become needed to access multiple XBOX services in the early 2026, when additional parts of the UK’s Online Safety Act will be implemented.
Vice President of the Gaming Trust and Safety on the Xbox explains, “In the early next year, these players in the UK will need age verification. If you do not confirm your age between now and early next year, unless the age verification process will be limited to friends,” social features will be limited.
“Whether a player confirms his age, it will not affect the previous purchase, entitled, the history of the gameplay, the achievements, or the ability to play and buy sports, but we encourage the players to avoid the use of their age -based use of social features on the Xbox in the future.”
Although it is still limited to Xbox Players in the UK, Kunz says, “We expect the future age verification process to be carried out in more territories.” Microsoft is not showing which other regions will also find age verification requirements, but Kunz notes that “these methods may look different in regions and experiences.”
If you are in the UK, then you can confirm your age for your Xbox account online via Microsoft, where you can use selfie, your passport or driver’s license scan, credit card check, or mobile number.
