Microsoft is implementing the age verification system on the Xbox accounts to comply with the UK’s Online Safety Act, and in a new blog post announcing the move, the company has suggested that it will come to other countries as well.
Microsoft says British players who point to their account that they are 18 years of age or older “will now begin to see information that they encourage them to confirm their age.” This process is optional for now, and the players will be able to enjoy playing Xbox Games until the “early 2026’s early”, when the confirmation “will be mandatory to maintain full access to social features on the Xbox, such as sound or text communication and game invitations.” If you do not confirm, you will still be able to buy, play games and achieve works, but social features will be limited to your friends.
Microsoft says it is expected to learn from the UK program, and “add the age verification process in the future to further regions.” The company has warned that the version it introduced in other regions may look different from the proof of the “government -issued ID, age estimate, mobile provider check and credit card check”, which is offering in the UK, but the age verification will be normal.
The UK’s Online Safety Act was signed in 2023 in law to impose non -controversial Deep Fake Porn and create rules to prevent children from being exposed to adult content. Since regulators have explained that companies can comply with the law, the implementation of the age verification system has become a solution, mostly platforms that are hosted by adult content. For this reason, Microsoft, Bluesky, Reddate, Dcardes and others have announced age certification programs in the past few months.
The problem is, there is no age verification system foolproof, and in some cases what they take is a picture that is to stop it. Stuffy Reports You can fool Reddate’s age gate with photos mode Death Standing 2: On the beachFor example. The use of VPNs has also proved to be a way to get age verification tools. If companies take Microsoft’s view and introduce age verification in more territories, it can be difficult to avoid, but the adoption of mass is the implications of confidentiality and security.
