Google URL Shortener has become a very popular tool in the past years. It essentially allows you to take long URL and squeeze them into comprehensive links, which is easy to share on other platforms. However, the company announced the departure of the platform in 2018. Last year, the company announced that Google would not respond soon by the URL SHARTER. This change is eventually happening next month.
Google URL Shortener
In a July 2024 blog post, Google announced that a safety page will now be presented at Go Dot GL links. These shutdowns will appear before the original target page is visible to inform users about the incoming deportation. The company added that after August 25, 2025, links will no longer be supported and no response will be given.
Therefore, if you have any contacts with Google’s tool, they will stop working for a month from now on. According to the company, Google will affect any developers using links made with URL shortener.
Although Google has not allowed the generation of new short contacts since 2018, it has continued to serve the current URL. Last year, Tech Dev provided a one -year window so that the transfer of these links could be transferred to another URL shortening provider.
After August 25, after opening a page, a link to a Google device is short, which will show 404 answers. But why outdated?
According to Google, the short -lived URL has reduced traffic in the past years. The company revealed that 99 % of links are not registered in the entire month of June 2024. It has since replaced Google URL Shortener with the Fire Base Links (FDL). It is said that these are “smart URLs” that allow users to send others to others inside the iOS, Android, or web -based app.
However, some services will be exempt from depression. The company said that the Goo.Gl links manufactured by Google Apps will continue to work for maps to share locations even after the last date of August 25.
