Companies announced that Sony has enrolled in the “Strategic Business Alliance” with Bandai Namco Holdings, in which about 2.5 2.5 percent of Japanese media collective and gaming publisions have been acquired with 68 billion yen (5 465 million) investment. Sonny said, the purpose is to increase the community of fans “such as IPs such as mobile phones and manga worldwide … engagement, especially in the field of mobile phones where the market is expected to increase rapidly.”
Companies noted that they have historically contributed to fields such as sports, mobile phones and music, but plans to increase it in “wider areas”. Bandai Namko specifically said “production and distribution of mobile phones and other video materials, as well as the manufacture of commercial goods and”. In other words, the two companies can include the current (and successful) trend of making series and films through video games and other contents. According to the press release, at the same time, they intend to prepare and promote new IPs in mobile phones and Manga areas.
According to Sony’s recent purpose, the deal has to maximize the value of its content in the gaming and entertainment ecosystem. Bandai Namko added that companies “intend to provide maximum products and services on the maximum time.” In other words, it depends on the demand, in some areas compared to others will focus more on content.
