SpaceX’s star link satellite internet service on Thursday experienced global closures, which lasted for more than two hours. Connectivity Information Notifications began at around 3: 20pm on the basis of a down detector. Through a post on the Star Link X account, SpaceX did not recognize the closure until 4:05 pm. At 5:30 pm, some people started returning, and Michael Nicholas, VP of Star Link Engineering, said that the provider was “mostly recovered” at 6:30 pm.

Customers from all over the United States, Europe, UK and Asia also reported issues on R/Star Link, Service Reddate Page, and Space X, even acknowledging the closure on the star link website. The company has not shared the number of people who were actually affected, but it may be in the millions – according to the last starlink network update, there are more than six million active users globally in this service.

The initial announcement that Space X was working on a fix did not specify why there was a closure or what was being done to restore the service. The company’s X Post said, “Star link is currently in the closure of a network and we are actively following a solution.” “We admire your patience, once the problem is resolved we will share a refreshment.”

Announcing the recovery of the service, Nichols explained that the closure is due to “failure of important internal software services” rather than any problem with Space X’s satellite bridge or other hardware issues. Nichols added that the star link “will be fully rooted in the problem and will ensure that it will not happen again.

The Star Link has now recovered from most of the network closure, which lasted about 2.5 2.5 hours. The closure was due to the failure of the major internal software services that run the basic network. We apologize for the temporary disruption to our service. Designed to make the star link accessible where traditional services providers cannot reach, these make a common option for everyone living without van lifters and traditional Internet infrastructure. Space X has also contributed with companies like T -Mobile to use star links to enhance smartphone connectivity beyond the limits of traditional cell networks. It is unclear how T -Mobile’s star link link has been affected.

Update, July 24, 6:30 pm et: The article has been updated to reflect that the Star Link Service has been restored.
