Tom Conrad took over as interim CEO in January.
The company announced on Wednesday that Sonos had officially appointed Tom Conrad as CEO. In January 2024, Kanrad took over as interim chief executive in January after the company’s devastating app launch, causing former CEO Patrick Spans to resign.
Conrad has served in the Board of Directors of Sonos since 2017 and was also the Chief Product Officer of Kobi’s Kobi, a short -term streaming service. Now, Conrad says he is ready to launch “the next generation of experiments” in Sonos, which he discussed in our interview earlier this year.
Sonos’s large app offered users offended by introducing numerous insects and removing the first available features. The company has been on the path to recovery since then, and has released several updates in an attempt to revoke some of its changes and regain consumer confidence.
In a letter to the employees, the Conrad writes:
Today is not about leaving the interim word in my title. Today is the day when we turn the page completely to the new chapter, today we start our recovery, and today is the day we focus on the first principles of good and customer, which were the basic values of our company 20 years ago.
However, under the leadership of Conrad, Sonos kept the company around 200 employees as part of the reorganization plans in “flatter, small and more focused teams” and also ended its cooperation with the IKEA on the symphonic speaker. In March, the company launched an initiative to deal with user complaints about the app and also released large updates of software for its ACE wireless headphones and arc sound bar.
