The company’s recently masked Galaxy Z Fold 7 model’s desired successor, Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, is not expected to reach another year, but the details of the handset have already begun to come online. The company introduced the new, upgraded component with the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 model, designed to improve its structural integrity. However, according to a South Korean publication report, it cannot be included in next year’s foldable handset.
Samsung can return to a backpack of plastic plunged from carbon fiber
The ELEC (in the Korean) reports that Samsung is using carbon fiber for the desired galaxy Z fold 8 backpacks using titanium or titanium. The South Korean tech firm equipped the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 (first impression), as well as last year’s Galaxy Z Fold SE model equipped with titaniumback plate, but it is currently unclear whether it will be included in next year’s model.
According to the publication, Samsung has equipped all its foldable models with a CFRP backpack between Galaxy Z Fold 3 (Review) and Galaxy Z Fold 6 (Review). The same component was made from stainless steel on the company’s first two -foldable handset (Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Fold 2).
Due to the recent tariff dispute, the ongoing uncertainty between China and the United States is said to be the main reason for considering the use of CFRP instead of titanium for a backpack on the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The company allegedly relies on chain for raw materials, including titanium, and the ongoing conflict could affect the supply of foldable phones to its next generation.
The Galaxy Z Fold 7 has left support for providing a thin handset by removing the styles of the S pen, but Samsung is working to bring it back with a future model. The post states that the company has devised a way to equip a device with stylus support without a digitizer, while future model can also use glass instead of CFRP or titanium as a backpack content.
Although it is too early to tell if the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 will use CFRP or titaniumback plate, it is highlighted how geographical political issues can affect the materials used to make smartphones. It is better to take these claims with salt grain, as the successors of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 do not expect to be launched to the second half of 2026.
