Former CEO of Instacart, Fadji Simo, will start his new role as an Executive of Open AI on August 18, which will guide at least one -third of the company and will directly not be notified to Open CEO Sam Altman. Simo will be the “CEO of applications”, which will be given the task of scaling and increasing the use of tech.
This is a new role, first revealed in May as part of the announcement of the Reconstruction of the Altman. At that time, the oppositeman wrote that he would still monitor him, which he called the three pillars of the open – research, calculations and applications – but he would begin to focus more on research and calculations, including the safety system. On the other hand, seamo will focus more on products and growth.
In a memo -two employees, which was also published on the Open blog, Simo wrote that he was the most excited for AI -led health care progresses. He also wrote widespread AI’s ability to help career and life’s coaching, creative expression, time savings, medical second opinion, time, creative expression, and personal tuition.
Simo writes that major technology trends can either increase access to power or “can further cose wealth and power in the hands of some people – usually those who already have money, certificates and contacts.” He writes that the choices that the company and the AI leaders are now now “will make” whether the coming change makes the maximum empowerment for everyone, or for some people the maximum concentration of wealth and power. “
Simo first joined the Open Board in March 2024. He was appointed only when CEO Sam Altman regained his board seat, after internal investigation of his ousted leadership.
Ultman wrote in May that the Open Applications Department “gathers a group of current business and operational teams, which is responsible for how our research reaches the world and benefits from it.”
