I have handled every foldable phone Samsung that has ever launched. I have praised his engineering. I’ve seen jealousy when people at the airport lounges and hotel lobby dramatically open their devices as they are opening a future that I have deliberately denied myself. But despite my curiosity and fear, I am far from foldable, especially book -style devices. Samsung’s flip phones still felt close to someone like me, who only uses slab phones all his life, but big foldables are where I have drew the line for several reasons.
Samsung’s early foldable models had a fair part of red flags, whether they were screen -protectors, delicate hollows, a deep and disturbing crease, and apps that they deal with as if they forget about what display size. The phones also felt huge and strange, their outdoor screens are also tight to be useful. But last year’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 changed something. It was thin, light, and eventually it seemed as if it was in the hands of a regular person. Nevertheless, it was not enough that I wanted to cough a kind of money that could buy a midfall phone and holiday. Enter the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
I assumed that I would enjoy novelty for a few days and then easily return to my trusted candy bars.
New Fold 7 is the first book style foldable I used as my daily driver and primary phone. Like most of you, I have been firmly in the slab phone camp for years and is currently roaming between Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9A, and the iPhone 16 Pro. And while I have no objection to slipping on a flagship that really affects me, a phone is just as expensive as Samsung Fold has to provide seriously to justify the price. So when Samsung handed me to Fold 7 to try me, I assumed that I enjoy novelty for a few days and then easily return to my trusted candy bars. But what happened after that, he removed me from the guard.
Folding old habits

Now after using the Galaxy Z Fold 7 for more than a week, I had to eliminate a decade’s valuable slab phones. No one tells you how much shift it is. For one, I initially found myself asleep. I was more often defaulting on the outer screen and resisting the entire experience. But one day or so, Fold 7 made it easy to leave old habits.
I had to eliminate a decade of valuable slab phones.
The phone is incredibly thin. At only 215 grams, this iPhone 16 is lighter than 16 Pro Max and Galaxy S25 ultra. I could not just wrap my head around it, but I wrapped both hands around it. About which, if you are thinking of getting the latest Samsung’s latest foldable phone and new in experience like me, be ready to keep your hands too often. Certainly, a UI offers a lot of Enough to handle a hand -use, such as seamless screen transitions, new now, and a dead easy one -handed mode, but if you want to enjoy this beautiful 8 -inch emulated display, you will need your second hand. It is very addictive. Just as you read a book, you will be defaulted with both hands most of the time, but you will not mind.
The crease surprised me.
When we are on the topic of display, Craise surprised me. Not because I hated it, as I was expecting, but because I felt hard of it. Yes, the crease operating in the middle of the main screen is still there. It is more noticeable on the background than light ones, but honestly, it has not turned away from my experience of visiting the UI, watching, watching, reading, or doing something on a big screen. You really just feel when you swipe your finger on the inner screen and see the dip. I was surprised to get used to a surprise and I didn’t feel that it was a great disturbance. This time Samsung has also made the internal ultra -thin glass (UTG) 50 % thick, which makes the screen feel tight and I have added more premium touch than the previous models.
Grip problems and case -free go

If you are accustomed to braking a slab phone with one hand, be ready to adjust. With thin devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 7, when the opening is not to hold too much frame, and your fingers are inevitable on the screen. It takes some time to restore your grip. Even I have considered buying one of these color holders so that it can get a good grip on the device in its open condition. I guess this is a place where a case makes all the difference, but this is another thing with which I am struggling right now.
When it comes to slapping a case on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, I am gone.
When it comes to slapping a case on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, I am gone. The phone feels so good in the hand that covering it with plastic seems like a crime against its design. I know that this decision may come back to cut me in the future, but for now, I’m staying free. That said, Galaxy Z Fold 7 certainly feels more delicate than my usual slab phones. During the setup, the barrages of popup warnings did not calm my nerves at all.
It is so thin and lightweight, it practically screams “carefully handle.” But then I remind myself, it is not completely defensive. With the front guerrilla glass ceramic 2, Victos 2 on the back, and a strong coach aluminum frame, I’m not taking swims at all without the vest of life. Rating IP48? Well, that is something. I’m still taking anywhere near a beach unless it is in the zip lock bag, but given the better design, when there is a barely visible difference when folded, the fold 7 prevents the dust from entering the interior screen, which is my biggest problem.
Work, multi -tossing, and is made to kill my burns

Now here things are fun. I am doing more on my slab phones more than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It is really a multi -tasking machine that has been advertised. I’ve never been fruitful over the phone. Asan and Slack are the two apps that I use back and forth all the time for my work, and open their way to a screen at the same time, without experience, it was just excellent. Even like WordPress, I can even add the third app to the mix without clutter. The reason for this is that on the Galaxy Z Fold 7, you can adjust the size of each multi -tasking window, a clean touch that allows me to give more space to the app that I focus on, while other small windows rotate. Unlike ordinary spiral screen tricks on other phones, multi -tasking actually seems usable here, and I dare to say, beautiful.
Fold 7 is a change of burning that I didn’t know that I was waiting.
Thanks to the close support of Samsung with Google, even the features of AI, such as Circle Two Search questions and Gemini direct sessions have become smooth and more on the big screen. Reading is also a pleasure again. Fold 7 is a change of burning that I didn’t know that I was waiting. I will not deny the appeal of e -Ink readers for relief, battery life and low disturbances, but my reading habit has been realized by getting a separate device without having to experience this book.
Streaming, Mistachushes, and Lightly

Of course, no tech is perfect. An area where I fled to problems was ongoing. I see a lot of content on my phone, and when apps like Netflix and YouTube improve both internal and external display and easily handle transitions between them, others, such as prime video, Apple TV, and some local streaming apps in my country are not yet available. As shown in the aforementioned images, not all streaming apps have been made better to use the phone’s Flex mode.
I have never appreciated the screen lock feature on Fold 7 Streaming Apps.
In addition, I have never appreciated the screen lock feature, which offers some streaming apps that I have on Fold 7. As I have said earlier, there is very little frame in the grip on the phone opening, so just holding the device is easy to tap on the screen. On a prime video apps, which do not offer screen locks while viewing content, causes permanent intervention, whether it be X -ray feature or playback, whenever your finger brushes the display, controls popped. That said, a UI allows you to adjust the proportion of the aspect of each app, which sometimes helps improve the viewing experience on apps that do not measure properly on the big screen, but there is always an ideal solution.
Why did the Galaxy Z Fold 7 change my mind?

After several years of foldable solid watching from distance, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 finally feels as designed not only for tech enthusiasts but also designed for everyone who wants to buy a premium smartphone. It is a sleek, light and more durable, it has a good set of camera (more on our upcoming review), and has been made more thoughtful than any fold before. The app continuously, multi -tasking, and hardware improvement form factor is even more attractive.
However, I will still not turn from any other brand into a foldable. Samsung’s One UI is a huge part of working this experience. The UI feels well with the Foldable Forming element, yet it is so familiar for everyone who has ever used the Samsung phone. Include that seven years of updates and galaxy watches, buds, tablets, and more, promise a strong ecosystem that talks to each other, and you have found a compulsive reason for living in the corner of Samsung.
Certainly, the foldables of Honor, Vivo, Huawei, and others are also very impressive. But I’m not ready to abandon polished, fully integrated Samsung experience for unknown people. No, when I have just come to the idea of switching from a trusted slab to a foldable phone. For the first time since foldables become one thing, I’m thinking seriously – yes, it’s worth a decision.
