Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Fold 7 earlier this month, but the rumor mill has now turned its attention to Samsung’s next-generation book-style foldable-Galaxy Z Fold 8. The South Korean tech brand is speculated to adopt a new display technology to eliminate the crease visible in the Galaxy Z Fold 8. The new technology is expected to bring the crease -free folding screen.
Analyst Ming Chi Coo posted on the X that the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, which will be launched in the second half of 2026, will adopt high “laser drill display metal plates”. Apple is also asked to use the same technology in its foldable iPhone to get a crease -free display.
According to Kuo, this new crease component will be allegedly provided by South Korea’s excellent MT Tech. Interestingly, the same company is said to provide this section to Apple for its first foldable iPhone.
On July 17, 2025, Fine M Tech announced an investment of about KRW 17.5 billion to support the growing foldable device market and increased the demand for high precision laser processing. The investment period extends until July 20, 2025 until January 20, 2027.

Coo claims that Apple’s tough crease -free standards for its foldable iPhone can expand the laser drilling in the manufacture of display metal plates in the industry. If it is confirmed, this technology will mark a progress in the foldable smartphone segment, as all existing foldable shows the crease on some level on the flexible screen. This technology can also increase competition between Apple and Samsung.
