The Boeing CST -100 star liner, which is a NASA trade staff program capsule, is suffering from constant problems. In June 2024, its first staff testing was reduced due to technical failures, including helium pressure leaks and multiple throuter malfunction. NASA eventually chose to return the star liner to the ground without his staff, and kept the astronauts aboard the station. After these problems are resolved, NASA says that the capsule will now remain around 2026, and its next mission will likely end.
Technical beating and grounding
According to NASA, during the June 2024 staff flight tests, the star liner faced severe propolason problems. Multiple helium leaks were detected in the service module pressure system, and five of the 28 -Fine control throttle of the capsule failed during the ISS view. NASA and Boeing extended the staff stations, while the engineers traced the problems of thermal and seal failures in the “Dogos” walls.
Eventually, NASA decided to evacuate the star liner to the ground, without it, without its astronauts. Boeing and NASA have followed extensive ground testing to verify fixes: NASA’s white sands facility engineers are firing therosterors in various settings to improve thermal models, and Boeing has added new thermal -housing to thermal housing to prevent excessive heat.
The future of the star liner program
Boeing’s delay has renovated NASA’s trade staff projects. NASA officials say another unmanaged test can also be taken before the star liner can take astronauts. Star liner growth is now more than billions of budgets: its original 2 4.2 billion contract has increased the additional cost of about $ 2 billion. Meanwhile, SpaceX staff have blown up 11 ISS staff missions and during additional flights, NASA’s contract has moved towards $ 5 billion while the star liner is lagging behind. NASA still views the star liner as a critical backup and aims to confirm the staff’s rotation by the end of 2025 or early 2026.
