Microsoft has suddenly shut down its films and TV apps, accessing the Xbox and Windows PC through the Microsoft Store. This allowed people to rent or buy movies or TV shows locally through their console or computer store fronts, but in a new latest support page, Microsoft said the service was over.
The statement states that “Microsoft does not offer more entertainment content, including movies and TV shows on Microsoft, and Microsoft Stores, including movies and TV shows on Microsoft.com,” but you can continue to access your content in movies and TV apps on the Xbox or Windows Device.
Microsoft added that downloaded movies and shows will remain in your account and will continue to play in your maximum supported resolution, but there is no way to move the content you buy into another service. However, you can sign up for films anywhere, a service that facilitates you to register films that you have purchased on different store fronts and synchronize them in the other so that you do not close in a platform. According to the Microsoft Support Page, if you are in the US, it is still possible to do so with your films and TV purchases.
You can also continue to install video streaming and buying apps on both Xbox and Windows stores, including prime video and Apple TV, and nothing is changing with them right now. The company does not offer refunds on previous purchases.
Microsoft Movies and TV were first introduced as an Xbox video in 2012, which has replaced the zone video market since 2006. It was Microsoft’s response to Apple’s iTunes store and Amazon’s various on -demand offerings. Microsoft also made a joint effort to position the abusive Xbox One, which was first launched in 2013 as an All -One Multimedia Box, but today’s films and TV app closure is another sign that it has now moved completely from this period.
