Apple just gave its users another reason to check Apple News+ – and no, this is no other news article. This is a game.
The company left only a new title called the emoji game. This word and number includes the growing lineup of puzzles, which already includes cross -word, Sudoco and Quartiles, which give users another fun way to hit time and challenge their brain.
Just starting time for World Emoji Day (yes, this is one thing that is celebrated on July 17), the new game is now available in English, Apple News+ users in the United States and Canada.

The emoji game is the best addition to Apple News+ Suite of Word and Number Puzzles, which we use every day that we use to a breakthrough every day, which is accessible and entertaining.

-Laren Corn, Chief Editor of Apple News, July 17, 2025

Emoji is a mixture of game word play and logic. Every day, players are given three short sentences with the missing parts – and the challenge is to complete them using emojis. There is a limited set to work with you and the less you do, the better. If you are stuck, you can show a hint for each sentence – but it also increases the counting of your move.

One of the unique touching here is the use of genitalism, or customs emojis with Apple Intelligence, which gives Apple a bit more flexibility than the standard emoji set. In other words, you are not limited to emojis on your keyboard-Apple is also throwing into people with AI power.
The score is tracked through the game center, and of course, you can share the results through messages, mail, or social media with friends. You will find the game in the Apple News app’s puzzle section, and after this fall, the emoji game will also be available through the Apple Games app, which is a new center for casual gaming and puzzle lovers.
Apple is not the only one who is using puzzles to enhance engagement – for example, the New York Times has seen great success in its games. Apple did not reveal how many people play its games, but they say that many users only subscribe to news+ for puzzles.
