On the thread, the wired Julian Chowkato shared a HMD statement which was released a few days ago. This company has been known to grant Nokia’s name since 2016 to use Android smartphones, feature phones, tablets and accessories. In a statement, HMD says it is “scaling” its US operations. Noting that it is a priority for its customers and business partners to ensure a barrier transfer, HMD says it will respect the warranties, provide service for existing products, and will provide full support globally.
The company says the “challenging geographical political and economic environment” has caused it to end its US operations. We assume that these “geographical and economic” matters are related to the taxes that the United States is imposing on imported products in the United States. Although the company is using the phrase “Skilling Back”, it is more likely that this statement indicates the elimination of phones and other relevant users selling HMD business in US HMD, which also mentioned that they are deeply appreciated by their US partner’s contribution to helping them.
Some Nokia phones made by HMD brought back Nokia’s famous feature phone that the iPhone made great success before taking the smartphone popularity to a new level. These included Nokia 3310 (originally released in 1997 and re -released by HMD in 2017) and Nokia 8110 (launched in 1996 and was re -issued as Nokia 8110 4G in 2018). The latter was the “banana phone” used in “The Matrix”. Nokia 3310 again made the famous “snake game” with the famous release.

In 2019, HMD returned the name of Pure View, actually used on Nokia 808 Pure View in 2012. Nokia 9 Pure View had many problems, we gave it 4 out of 10. The processor in this 2019 flagship was from 2018. There were problems with camera software, and during a normal day the battery quickly got out of power. In January 2024, HMD decided to stop using the Nokia name and sold its new phones under HMD mankar, which means human mobile devices.

HMD’s licensing contract with Nokia ended in 2026. Unless another company wants to give another shot to the name in a highly competitive smartphone market, it seems that Nokia will soon join BlackBerry as two elementary leaders in the smartphone industry who could not maintain the first time by Apple in 2007.
