Astronomers confirmed the admission of a third -known item in our solar system on July 1, 2025. This item is named 3I/Atlas, where 3i means “third interstitial”, which is a highly hyperbolic (6.2) orbit, confirming that it is not the sun, but a real interstitial visit. Earlier, two such visitors, 1i/ʻumuamua (2017) and 2I/Borisov (2019), were also seen before. In particular, the 3i/Atlas still appears to be the largest and brightest intestinal winder discovered.
Compare with previous interstiters
According to NASA, astronomers of Atlas Survey first saw the item using binoculars in Chile on July 1, 2025. It immediately turned his attention to his extraordinary movement. Immediately after the discovery, observers saw a faint coma and tail, causing it to be ranked as Domkit C/2025 N1 (Atlas).
It is jointly shaped with appearance 2I/Borisov, such as Domestic, which is the second Interestler. Global rituals now track 3I/Atlas. There is no danger but provides a rare opportunity to study alien materials. Since 1i/umumuamua was observed only when the system was leaving solar, it was difficult for astronomers to confirm its exact data on its exact data – so because of it being a stranger’s ancestral ship – although it is definitely a temptation or twenty -one.
Size and significance
3I/Atlas is much larger and bright than the first interstitial visitors. It is about 15 km (kilometers) (9 miles) of diameter, which is a major uncertainty, while 1i/’is less than 100m for oumuamua and less than 1 km for 2I/Borisov. It makes it a better target of brightness and size study. Astronomers are planning to analyze their light for chemical signatures from their home system to indicate the formation of a remote planetary system.
