For better or worse, your voice soon takes cash to Siri

Last year, Apple had said that he finally needed Siri with AI superpower. But here we are still waiting. And while the promise has not been found anywhere in the promise, Apple has clearly not dreamed for his voice assistant.

A newly exposed patent suggests that Apple is working to pay users just to pay and access sensitive data – even their iPhone has been locked. No face ID. No pass code. Just “Hey Siri, pay Rs 20 to your mother.”

But before you scream to remove your vanmo on someone’s phone, there is a turn: This system will work only when your iPhone is linked to a reliable, predetermined accessory, such as your Apple Watch or Air Pod. In other words, Siri will need a little backup before handling something important.

The patent has a system that listens to natural language orders – such as “send John $ 10” – even when the device is locked. Once it listens to the command, it checks whether this is a safe request and whether the associated accessories meet the security requirements. It can include proximity, signal strength, recent verification, encryption keys, or other trust signals.

If everything is checked, the iPhone will go ahead and complete the work and still give you any confirmation while locking-or through Siri’s sound or through visual cue on screen. Apple describes it as a layered security system-with your voice-based confident verification that you already have. And honestly, this is a great thing … in theory.

I mean, it can be a game changer for things like payment, instant file sharing, or controlling smart home devices-all this without picking up your phone. But there are some clear red flags.

If you tell the truth, I am not sure that I will still trust Siri to handle the payments. The assistant still reduces simple sound orders as much as I want. For example: I recently tried to call my mother using the “call mother”, and Siri decided to call a friend instead. It’s disturbing, of course – but if it was a payment instead of a phone call, it could have turned the money into the whole dirt involved in a refund and strange explanations.

In fact, Siri still feels like a son in half a time. So without opening my phone, the idea of giving him access to your money? Yes… it’s very convincing.

Of course, like most patents, it can never be made in a real product. But if Apple really wants Siri to become your trusted sound wallet, make sure it is very reliable. Because now, despite the basic tasks, the assistant still feels like a gambling and when it comes to money, it is not a condition that most people are willing to earn.
