When I lived in Sydney, where the summer was burning and air conditioning was practically not in residential homes, it was practically necessary to close your curtains, blinds and windows and stop the glowing of hot sun.

Like many things, Tactok has taken a good sense of feeling and has rotated it in a sleep hack with a new name – ‘Cave Method’. The cave method is basically a term that describes your bedroom as cool and black like a cave, which inserts a slight air flow from the outside.

Where I now live in the UK, the summer can be hot, but for us it is rare that we have just tested. So it was not really necessary to keep the blinds and curtains off.

But now, in the grip of a long -running heatwave, which is devastating on my sleep, I decided to go to the ‘Kiman method’ to see how much effect it could have. What happened here …

    What is the cave method?

If you have ever gone to a cave on a summer day, you may have noticed that the temperature drop is important – and that is what you are trying to imitate with the cave method.

When the external temperature is set to exceed the internal temperature, it is time to close the curtains, blinds and windows to create a cool shelter.

Therefore, when you may be tempted to open the window to catch the passing air, when the temperature rises, you should do the opposite.

Close your bedroom window in the morning to capture the night’s cold air and keep your curtains off all day to prevent your room from baking in the sun. Et voila! It is as cool as a cave.

What happened when I tried Kiman’s procedure

I have a lot of tolerance to sleep well in the heat, but once he started to affect his children’s sleep, I knew it was time to work. Enter: Cave method.

I tried the method of Kyman on a beautiful sunny day. But at the end of that day, the temperature is ready to hit 94 ° F (34 ° C), I decided not to open the curtains. It still felt relatively cold in our bedroom, so I stopped that night to trap the windows in the air.

Unless you are out of the house, the most strange thing about the cave method is the dim light.

Despite the brightness of the outside light, I was working from home, well, a cave of darkness. I turned the lamp to attend the meeting, while my partner sat in the background of the sun sitting in the T -shirts.

However, around the lunch time, when my house usually starts to become a skeletter, I still felt cool and comfortable. The biggest impact was stepping into my boys’ bedroom at bedtime.

My own bedroom also felt significantly cool than usual

They usually find the dasture of the evening sun, which makes their room uncomfortable. This time? He felt significantly cool and he managed to fall asleep – the winner.

My own bedroom also felt significantly cool. While I usually like to sleep with the window with a window, I kept it closed so I didn’t bother the cool shelter I had made. I slept as usual and fell asleep overnight.

Will I try the cave procedure again? 100 % yes (I’m still using it.)

How to cool your room with a cave method

    1. Close your bedroom window in the morning

It is easier to keep the room cool than actively cooling a room, which is heated throughout the day.

If you are expecting it to be a hot day, close your windows in the morning and do not open your curtains or blinds.

Closing the windows in the morning keeps your room closing the cool night air and prevents the warm air from entering the outside.

    2. Stop the sun’s glare

Keep your curtains off to stop the dull sunlight so that your bedroom can be turned into gold.

Stopping the dazzling of the sun is an important step in the cave method. However, if your curtains are thin or your blinds allow some sunlight, you will not have the same cool effect.

If that’s the case, I would recommend taking a blackout curtain pair in prime day sleep deals. (My choice would be that pair Portable Blackout curtains that are 34 % distance in Amazon.

    3. Open the windows when the temperature drops

If you are so fortunate that once the sun is setting down the temperature falling. Only then should you open the window of your bedroom.

Opening your bedroom window allows the cool air to your bedroom – happiness. The temperature is not rotating? I have some more tricks in my sleeve …

3 Other hexes swear this summer for cold sleep

    1. Make your own aerrica

I have been awarded air conditioning but there is a hack that I swear by which (almost) is the cool benefit.

Placing an ice pack in front of a fan means that the rotating air in the room is cool, which helps reduce room temperature.

    2. Take a warm shower before bed

It’s hard, you have done sweat on the stairs, you can’t wait to jump into a hot shower? It feels contradictory, but taking a warm bath or shower can actually help you cool down and fall asleep.

Our body’s basic temperature drops before sleeping. Our basic temperature also cools down when we get out of a warm bath or shower, indicating our brains and bodies that the time of the shutdown has arrived.

    3. Switch into a sheet above a dot

Switching to the sheets of the breathing, cooling bed sheets, I work first when the temperature starts to rise.

But when the temperature at night barely drops, I completely change my diet for a breathing capable top sheet. That way you have the benefit of feeling easily but without heat.
