Even if you stay at the official app stores, you can download a malicious app, which has happened to 50,000 Android users who mistakenly installed a dangerous banking trigger on their devices.
As the Belping Computer has reported, Anatasa Banking Trojan has returned as part of a new campaign that uses a malicious app that can affect unauthorized users of the best Android phones as PDF viewers.
The discovery was made by security researchers on the fabric, which has been tracking Antisa for years. Banking Trojan is often hidden in popular utility, and to date, it has been downloaded almost a million times.

The thing that makes such malware particularly dangerous is that it is designed to target popular banking and finance apps. From JP Morgan to TD Bank and others, Capital One, Anatasa can imitate them all, and Banking Trojan does this through attacks. Although it has since been removed, recently threatened fabric researchers have recently seen Anatitas Banking Trojan hiding in the PDF viewer app on the Google Play Store, which is published by the “Developer” hybrid Cars Simulator, Darfut and Racing.
Based on a screenshot of the app’s download page taken by the CyberScript firm, more than 50,000 Android users downloaded this malicious app before downloading. If you have downloaded this app, you should stop what you are doing and immediately remove it from your phone.
Just like other malicious apps, the threatening fabric found that it used a timid tactic where the app was “clean” until it eliminated enough users. Once it became popular, though, its creators or hackers who hijack the app, followed by a refreshing code, adding malicious code.
As you have guessed, this needle code contains Anatasa Banking Trojan, which is installed on a weak Android device as a separate app. By connecting the hacker -controlled server, malware is able to get a list of targeted apps, then searches them on the affected device. If any of them are found, then overlays are used to steal the user’s credentials.
This latest campaign has added a new trick, though, until it is too late to prevent consumers from taking action. You know people who try to check the balance in their account often see if you often see? Well, Antistan now shows them on your legitimate banking apps so that it can hide its malicious activities in the background, and when the message is over, there are your banking credentials.
Google has then removed the latest malicious app to spread the Play Store to the Play Store. However, if you have downloaded it, you need to remove it and then run a full system scan using Google Play Protect. Similarly, it is also recommended that if you end up in the wrong hands, reset your bank credentials.
