Google has announced a battery performance program for Pixel 6A. As part of the move, all Pixel 6A users will get the Android 16 mandatory updates. While Tech Dev has already released the Android operating system (OS) for his phones in Pixel 6 to Pixel 9 series, Pixel 6A is not eligible for this update. However, this month, with the handset and the compulsory Android 16 updates, it is now changing.
Android 16 update for Pixel 6A
On a support page, Google said it would take Android 16 to Pixel 6A as an essential automatic software update starting July 8. It will be introduced to the labeled handsets called “affected device”. This is being done to minimize the risk of heat than a potential battery that can pose a risk for device owners.
According to Tech Dev, the update will enable the main features of battery management at Pixel 6A. After Android 16 rollout, Google will reduce the phone’s battery capacity and charging performance after reaching 400 charge cycles.
However, unless the battery crosses this doorstep, battery changes and new features will remain inadequate.
Pixel 6A users whose device has been affected, will then receive a reminder report after reaching 375 charge cycles. In addition to the low battery capacity, users can also see changes such as a reduction in charging speed. In addition, battery -level indicators may also fluctuate, but it is said that the phone is a short -term change after its revised capacity.
If the Pixel 6A battery performance comes under the program, users are eligible to repair free charge. If they do not want to pursue repairs, they can choose cash or even choose a hardware discount that will apply to their next purchase through the Google Store.
The move came earlier this year after several examples of Pixel 6A battery problems. In February, the owner of a Pixel 6A shared several photos of his device on social media showing the phone’s battery as swollen and the screen has been removed from the frame. Then in May, another pixel 6A allegedly exploded due to a swollen battery.
