The key path of cneet
- Sigma’s art is a sharp, wide angle lens that can take amazing images of night sky.
- It is quite heavy on 1,120 grams (2.5 pounds) but compact for it.
- F1.8 Aperture allows you to take pictures of the unique wide angle with the field deep.
Taking pictures of the sky at night is one of the most difficult types of photography. There is not much light available here (apparently, night), and really epic photos to you, you really want a wide angle lens. Finding a sharp lens is not difficult, nor are there wide angle lenses, but Sharp The wide -angle lenses are few. Rare, and often is really expensive.
Sigma Art 14mm F1.8 DG HSM Not to some extent cheap, but it is appropriate how fast and wide it is. I traveled for years with a predecessor of this lens, 12-24 mm F4 DG HSM. That lens was amazing to many things, including submarines and other narrow spaces. Although F4 is not slow, it is not particularly fast. I was able to get some excellent pictures of the sky -filled and full of stars, but I really no Used to love. On the recent trip to the Death Valley National Park, I rented 14 mm F1.8 and Oh my rent.
Art 14mm F1.8 DG HSM with my experience
You can see a million miles tonight, but you can’t get too far.
One of the major challenges with estro -photography is that you do not have time luxury as you do in other low light conditions. The ground is roaming, however, so if you want a star light defects, you need to limit your shutter speed. 12-24 mm F4, 30 seconds for my old art such as my old art lens. The 500 rule states that 41 seconds was more and more for this lens, but I found out that it was too long. The worse thing is that most lenses can look soft when wide open (in this case F4), especially on the edges of the frame. So you often want to withdraw from some stages, which means that your shutter must be time and longer to get the same amount of light. Which says, this is a good balance and it is one that I have never fully perfected the art with 12-24 mm F4.
Variously, the art looks like 14 mm F1.8 my 12-24 mm F4. It is a huge lens, which is equally larger than F4, and weighs 1,120 grams. The top field is the distance scale from the depth of the indicator. This is not often the case that you need to worry about the depths of such a wide -angle lens field. Auto -Focus is not very good, but for estro -photography, the camera is on a tripod, and is a large manual focus color to help make smooth adjustments. Although the front factor calls out, there are at least the wings to avoid some disasters. However, you would like to be careful.
A motorcycle star tracker can help you get excellent pictures of low -lench stars, but since they go with the sky, you can find nothing on the ground and anything on it.
As I mentioned above, I traveled with F4 for years and let me know, you will always see the weight of it. In your bag, on the camera, the lens switching – it’s a drag. It basically doubles the weight of any camera that is associated with it. So, the good is 14 mm F1.8, this is one of my main reasons why I will hesitate to add it to my cut. I don’t even do as much photo tour as I used to do, so I don’t need such a special lens.
In addition, all prime lenses are less flexible than good zoom lenses, which is fine, as everyone is used. Nevertheless, a 14 mm lens has a very specific form and it is not as appropriate as it says, for more and more conditions, can be 35 mm or 50 mm lens. If you are not familiar with such ultra -wide lenses, everything looks like you shot him with Go Pro. Although better quality than pro, but it is aesthetic. It is not necessary to have a bad thing, just to consider. It is also not free from weather.

Advice to buy CNET
As much as I love this lens and have been blown away from its performance, I will be the first to recognize that it is not for everyone. On the one hand, there are only a handful of sharp, wide lenses, such as 14 mm F1.8 and I haven’t done so fast about it, as wide and what it does. On the other hand, $ 1,599 has a lot of money for a lens that most people will not use regularly. However, if you know that you will use it often, that’s great! I wish I had a place (and money) to add to my cut.
Sigma Art 14mm F1.8 DG HSM is available for all full frame lens mounts, including Canon EFLIKA LIL Mount, Nicon fFor, for, for,. Sony e And Sigma’s own. Although the lens is still newly available according to the writing, it seems that Sigma is closing it for some mountains, including Canon and Nicon.
