Sony has announced that it is temporarily suspending the sale and shipment of Experia 1 VII in Japan. This is the company’s latest flagship smartphone, which was announced in May, and has been selling for Sony’s hometown and some European markets for only a month.

Sony says (Translated Source) The reason for the suspension is several reports for Experia 1 VII units that are shutting down itself, rebooting, or failing to turn on completely. None of these problems seems like a big deal, but it seems that they are affecting significant equipment in the jungle.

Sale and shipment suspension is limited to the Japanese market only, and if there are similar issues with the equipment sold in other regions, there is no official information. Expertia 1 VII is not available in the United States, and never sold, considering its predecessor, US release is unlikely.

    Likely

For anyone who owns Xperia 1 VII with some problems, Sony is a potential treatment. The company recommends the following steps:

    • Through the strength and volume -up buttons for about 20 seconds
    • Recover the device
    • Apply latest available software update

On its Japanese support page, Sony has given detailed instructions for the update process for the affected models. If these measures do not solve the problem, Sony advises to contact his customer service center.

Interestingly, Sony’s advice suggests that matters can only be resolved with a software update, but the company still says it is currently investigating the cause of the problems. The announcement states that the company will provide more information after being available, and suggests that people should backup their data.

I think Sony does not really know what is the reason for Experia 1 VII to experience these types of problems, and the software update is more caution. Poor units and Sony owners will have the best option if everything can be resolved only with a refreshment.

However, there is also an opportunity that all this is due to hardware problems, which may be the final nail in the Sony’s coffin. Experia 1 VII is practically more expensive and less compelling than all its rivals, so a major hardware problem and sales suspension can be important for Sony’s mobile ambitions.
