- Google got some new rainbow branding for Gemini.
- After starting on social channels, we are now watching the Gemini app a new icon hit.
- Google has also updated Gemini’s widget with a new shape and shortcut.
Google’s branding is often quite permanent-sometimes with frustration, as if you are scrolling, even though the app on a new pixel phone and all these rainbow colors begin to mix in each other. Placing this nutrition aside, the look of the rainbow has served Google well over the past years, and in 2025 we have seen that the company has begun experimenting with a new gradual approach for it. Recently, we have seen Google paying the same attention to Gemini, and today we see its new icon in the Gemini app publicly debuting.

For the past few weeks, we have been tracking Google’s development efforts with Gemini, and we have seen some of the early brands of branding for the service logo. Instead of the cool red, blue and purple heads that Gemini has presented, we saw Google giving the same rainbowing shape that has just come to the Gaikan. Yesterday, it started to look as if the change was eventually starting officially, as Google updated its Gemini Social Account on X to present a new rainbow.
At this time, though, this was the only place where we were seeing the design re -designing the app, which did not include the app, and Google had not yet updated its branding on the Play Store, or for Gemini on the web. Today, we start to see some progress in this direction, and with version 1.0.77655963 of the Gemini app, we eventually get a new icon that you see above.
This is just part of the new release that is in the store, and we have also identified some changes to Gemini’s home screen widget.
Compared to the new design on the right, it’s an old look for the widget on the left. Beyond the shape and colorful changes of the bar, we also see two new shortcuts to share content with Gemini live with the screen share and video buttons.
Light mode changes things, but there are similar parts. We have not done anything special to enable them, and as long as you are running the latest Google release for the Gemini and Google Android app, you should start watching them too.
