Google introduces a new way to take more control over what you look for. It is still in the experimental stage, but it certainly looks like something has the ability to stay around.
Google is testing a new way to filter your search results
Search is still most of us when we need to find something (Google every day has about 16 16.4 billion searches!). Now it is another matter that “only Google IT” is practically based on how we talk.
But here’s a big new thing? An experience called priority sources.
This feature is currently being tested in Search Labs (available in English in the United States and India) and it primarily gives you preference to which sites you want to see more in the higher story section. So, if you always read a particular tech blog, a specific news outlet or your favorite sports site, you can now make sure their stories appear more often.
How it works: If you are part of the experience, you will see a small star icon along with the stories above. Tap it and you can choose your preferred sources – assuming that those sites are actively posting fresh content.
Once set, their articles will appear more often when your search is related to your search. They will also be labeled clearly and you will still find stories from a mixture of other sources.

Right now, this feature is only available to those who are involved in the Labs experience, but if there is anything to pass in the Google Rollout of the past, it may not be too late to join the mainstream – at least in the United States and India.
But here’s the thing… Is this good for the news or bad?
At the level, the priority source looks like a win. This helps to reduce less effort or spamble sites, lets you focus on shops you trust and this can make your search results more relevant.
But I can’t help think – if you ever read one side of the story, how do you know what’s really happening?
I mean, of course, it is great to see more from the sources you like. But if each approach starts filtering, they do not agree with it, it can be seriously disturbed as to how many people are in fact. Sometimes, reality is not one side or on the other – it is somewhere in the middle. And if we are all stuck in our own small Eco -chambers, it is difficult to see the whole picture.
So yes, I think this idea is smart and helpful, but it is also something we should use with a little caution. Reliable sources are very good – just don’t forget to peek out occasionally.
