Before Apple released the iOS 18.4 in late March, the only iPhone hand sets linked to the major US carrier offered Rich Communication Services (RCS) as a messaging option for iOS users. For those who are ignorant, the RCS is a messaging platform that gives Android users the same features that iPhone users get when chatting with fellow iOS users with messages app. This means that RCS brings to Android users:
- The ability to send long messages.
- High resolution photo and videos.
- Typing indicators.
- Read receipts.
- The ability to share big files.
- WiFi and data connectivity.
Of course, being Apple Apple, at first it does not allow iPhone users to use RCS when messaging Android users on the RCS platform. Google asked to support the RCS, despite a permanent attack on Apple, it has no choice but to support Apple’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) legislation to make it feel like it has no choice but to support RCS. As we noted, only three major state -side carriers offered iPhone users the ability to use RCS while chatting with Android owners. iOS 18.4, numerous T -Mobile MVNOS began to bow down to its iPhone users with RCS compatibility, and one of these firms, Mint Mobile, has begun sending email to its users to make sure their iPhones are running the least. iOS 18.4. With update iOS 18.4 or then, these mint mobile subscribers will be able to use RCS while chatting on Android users on their iPhones. The Mint Mobile has also posted a website for users which states what the RCS is and how users can enable it on their iPhone or Android Handsets.
An important feature of RCS is not yet available for cross platform RCS messaging from the end to end. Currently, these transit encryption is available for all messages sent to RC, including cross -platform chats. This means that your chats are confidential while traveling on the Internet between your device and RCS servers when your messages prevent someone from “listening” on the network.

Google has always offered E2EE to end Android to Android Messaging until both sides used Google Messages. Apple has always offered E2EE on messaging iOS users. Both Apple and Google have finally pledged to offer encryption on the cross -platform RCS messaging from the end, the iOS Messages app and the Isarse will soon be a larger place for phone buyers sales. During Epic Games vs Apple’s case, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering, Craig Federgie’s Internal Apple emails indicated that the company considers IMessage a good reason that parents should buy their children to buy iPhone. Federgie emails also claim that the messages app and iSage were major reasons as users want to stay within the Apple Environmental System.
