According to new results from the Pew Research Center survey, one -third of US adults say they have used a generative AI tool chat GPT, while one in five says they have never heard of it.
34 % who say they have used Open AI’s general AI toll, including 58 % of adults under the age of 30, is the largest part of any age. Chat GPT users fall with age: 41 % of 30 to 49, 25 % of them 50 to 64 and 65 and 10 % of those older. Education also has a bilateral relationship. In adults with a bachelor’s or postgraduate degree, almost half reported using this device. Only 33 % of some college people and 18 % of them are high school diplomas or less. –
In the past two years, the use of Chat GPT and other general AI tools has increased dramatically. Chat GPT has increased popularity at the end of 2022 and has become a domestic name in a few years since then. The Pew Survey reveals: Part of American adults, saying that they have almost doubled the use of Chat GPT since July 2023. But Chat GPT is not the only source of its kind. Other tech companies have developed their big language models, including Google’s Gemini and Meta Lama.
From February 24 to March 2, a survey from a 5,123 adult panel shows how people have come to use these tools, which can perform different tasks from writing documents to search results like search results (though probably not so accurate). 28 % of employed adults reported to use it for work tasks, 26 % said they would use it to learn something new and 22 % said they would use it for fun.
Other recent results of Pew have found that many US workers had doubts about the use of AI in their jobs, and many were worried about its effects. Other research has shown that even when AI has become rapidly in the workplace, it is not without social costs, as fellow and managers can decide those who acknowledge the use of AI.
Of course, not everyone is using these tools. Pew results show that 20 % of adults have not heard about Chat GPT. This figure is the highest in individuals older than 65 (33 %) or with high school diploma or less (34 %).
