Notifications can certainly be useful, finding information about your loved ones, sports scores, and messages coming from upcoming Uber rides on your phone. But they can also be disturbed once, which can cause your phone to ping and resonate all day and cause you to spend more time checking your device that you should really be.
If you have a pixel phone, then there is an easy feature in an Android that can help, and it is called notification Coldown. Ever since it arrived in the Pixel drop of March 2025, I have been using it, and this makes a real difference in notification management.
In Google’s words, notification Coldown means that your phone “minimizes sound interference and popup on the screen when you get too much notifications within a short time”. It is controlled by a simple toggle switch on your handset, and calls, alarms, priority conversations, and emergency warnings are not affected.

This is one of the simplest settings to manage on Android: on your pixel phone, open the main settings panel, then tap Notifications And Notification Coldown. You get a bit of fading about what the feature is and how it works, and you can overcome it through Use Notification Coldown Toggle switch.
When Android decides your time to cool your notifications, it will shut down the vibration and reduce the volume of audio alerts for them, and you will not see any preview for information on the screen. They will still stand in the status bar at the upper part of your phone’s display, but this is the only indication that you will know that there are new warnings.
Google does not especially say how many Quick Fire notifications need to be reached, and you do not receive any warning that the mood has been activated. Although you will find at least a common ping or resonance that comes with a alert first, you will still be aware that you need to check your phone.
This is the thing I now leave as a default sequence, and it is especially useful when your group chats are coming up. The first message stimulates a notification, but the rest is delivered with less turmoil – and when you get around it, you are free to check the latest conversation.
How to change other settings of notification

The notification adds to the Coldown, which was already an impressive array of custom features for the management of alerts on Android. It’s a bit like not bothering to silence or on your phone, but it’s a bit different from the ways I like to use it right now.
You can manage other settings of notification by proceeding Notifications Settings from the top of the menu here, App notificationsAllows you to control alerts based on the app by app. Many apps you can overcome how to handle a variety of notifications: so with snap chat, for example, you can show direct messages aller warnings but not emoji response or typing indicators.
Somewhere else you can get on the settings MakersThis is a place where you do not bother it and set up variations. These methods are like a super -charging version of the notification, which provides you with the options to silence warnings sometimes and in some places, while also notifications from important people and important apps.
Don’t forget that many apps are also included with their own notification settings, in which you can adapt to the settings that are placed at the Android level. In the WhatsApp, for example, you can silence any conversation for eight hours, a week or indefinitely: Tap three dots in the upper right corner of the chat, then select Dumb notifications And choose your own.
