You have tied a bag, flight and grabbed a taxi through tight -minded streets, trying to find the right address, the children were patiently suffered. But when you get there, and ring the bells according to the guidance, the person who responds does not host your air bank.
Friends have no idea who you are talking about and tell you that this address is not an Air BNB. Or may the hotel room, which you thought about the king’s air is a sweetest fit, like a baby -shaped closet and bed is actually a folding table with a compressor.
So… what now?
You can like
The fact of the unfortunate fact is that copying and paste photos of property and paste photos from property lists to create a legitimate travel website with fake booking, making fake websites, and even making fake reviews is incredibly easy.
If you have found yourself a victim of a fake booking site, first find yourself a safe place to work. From here, you are going to take the following steps to protect yourself and your data and make sure it never happens again.
Before, document
Once you realize that you are suffering from a scam booking, your next quick move is to start everything documents:
Booking, listing, payment, full process, text messages – all this – start all communication, listing details, verification emails and payment receipts.
Save all the pictures and statements you receive about the original listing, and create a timeline for all booking events. Which method of communication was used (In an app, note the chat boxes, text, email, phone calls) and their dates and times. Try to save the maximum detail of everything you can.
Second, cancel the charges

Next, contact your financial institution and inform them of fake allegations. Tell your credit card or bank about cheating and request a chargeback or dispute with transactions as soon as possible.
If you think you may have more unauthorized access to your card, you can also ask to freeze your card, though it will also prevent you from using it, which can make things difficult if you need it.
Keep in mind when traveling or buying anything online, credit cards usually offer better fraud safety than debit cards, so pay them as soon as possible to try to use them whenever possible.

If you have found a fake listing on a legitimate platform, then report the listing to the platform within 24 to 48 hours.
Contact their customer service and provide them with all the details from your timeline. Follow their fraudulent reporting procedures, and document your interactions with them and add it to your timeline.
Fourth, file reports

Within 72 hours, make sure you have filed an official report with federal agencies. You can contact FTC to reportfraud.ftc.gov, and file a complaint with the Internet Crime Complaint Center on IC3.gov.
If this includes a lot of money, you also want to contact local law enforcement agencies, and you should also try the office of your state Attorney General’s office.
Once again, keep the note and details about who you contact and when and when and add this information to your timeline.
Fifth, monitor your accounts
Finally, monitor your accounts and identities – from bank and credit card statements, to check unauthorized charges, to request credit reports where you will check suspicious activity. In addition, it is not a bad idea to change the passwords of any and all accounts included in it, such as the booking site was included, and setting fraud alerts with the credit bureau.
Keep in mind, if you have a comprehensive anti -virus software package, it can offer features that can help protect the scam from the Dark Web monitoring or identification, to VPN for travel, or for suspicious websites.
How to Be safe from Airbon B and Booking Scandals

Now that you have taken care of the immediate problem, here is to make sure you can find a booking or travel scam in the future.
There are especially red flags you should find when you talk about property listing and booking sites. When the talk is listing, suspect it:
- Any listing, which costs much below other lists in this area.
- Any such thing that has very few photos, or just highly professional images that look like it can be a photoshop.
- In any listing that does not detect the street or only the general area details.
- Any listing that demands large -scale payment, demands full payment before arriving or requests payment out of the platform in methods such as wire transfer, crypto currency, or gift card.
- In any list that does not have any information for contact for property out of the initial booking information, and listing without a clear cancellation policy or a list that has very strict conditions for establishment.
- Any listing that lacks recent studies, or reviews that use the most common language (ie “it was great!”).
When the talk is of suspicious booking sites, there are other things to find, for example it is concerned:
- If there is no safe payment processing (no https or pad lock icon).
- If the contact information is deprived, the terms of service or the privacy policies are lost.
- If the website design seems to be in a non -professional or initial design, or its links are broken.
Be aware of the increase in holiday and booking scams
It is worth knowing these symptoms because more and more scams appear on Airbon B and other booking sites – especially around the holidays, such as heavy travel hours. Scammers are not against using every tool they have to make their goals and make even more realistic lists to exploit their goals, so that “very good to a” style offers.
Particularly Air BNB has worked with Gate Safe Online to spot how to spot booking scams, especially around the holiday seasons. They echo many similar points that we have added above and also include that you should always rely on your conflict – if something seems suspicious or closed then just go.
