From today, all the new smartphones and tablets sold in the European Union need to provide an energy -saving label within their packaging. The inbox sticker EU/EEA is like people who are shown on electronic devices sold in the market. The main target of the new regulation is to help EU users buy and reduce COA emissions.
This regulation applies to all unborn phones (landlines), smartphones used on cellular or satellite networks, phones without internet connection or third party apps, and screens between 7 and 17.4 inch.
Energy sticker, as it is commonly known, has the characteristics of the scale rating of G to G, which is a highly efficient and the G -less efficient. This shows seven pieces of information:
- Overall energy saving class rating (A to G).
- Battery endure on each cycle (in hours and minutes) charged per full battery
- Repeated free fall reliability class (A to e).
- Battery tolerance in bicycles.
- Repair class (A to e).
- British protection rating.
Manufacturers will need to register their products with the European Product Registry for Energy Labeling (EPREL), which is administered by the European Commission.
In addition, all new equipment sold in the European Union will have to meet five environmental design standards.
- Stability: Devices should be resistant to accidental drops and should be protected from dust and water.
- Longevity of the battery: batteries must withstand at least 800 full charge and discharge cycle while their original capacity should be maintained at least 80 %.
- Repair Eligibility: Manufacturers must be available to spare parts in 5 to 10 working days, and continue their offer for 7 years after the product is no longer saled in the European Union.
- Software Support: Equipment has to get operating system upgrade for at least 5 years from the date of sale end.
- Repair Access: Professional repairs should have non -discriminatory access to any desired software or firmware.
Prior to June 20, the equipment has been exempted from new labels, and they do not even apply for rollable display devices, high security communication smartphones and full -featured operating systems tablet computers.
We want to point out that the new ranking aspect of battery endurance is actually tied to our own battery life test and uses software from the French automation company SmartWizer, which now offers the same test solution to device manufacturers.
