Whenever the peak design releases a new product, whether it’s a bag, a camera strap, or even wallet, I always look forward to seeing what kind of genes engineering a company based in San Francisco. And when there are some smart tricks here, the newly released video of the video Tapai is more about implementing the less than six years ago by the team’s first tripod release. The legs are tough, here a better center column, a re -designed hair head, and many other improvements.

First, the basics: There are three different types to choose: Pro Light, Pro, and Pro Lamb, all of them share in the same basic features but are different in height and weight. The entire line -up of the tripod is available on the kickstarter, but they will not be cheap – Prolight, Pro, and Pro long cost costs $ 9 799, 9999, and 999999999, respectively. Discounts for backing them on kickstarter from 23 percent off the process to 27 percent off the pro and pro tall.

I had the opportunity to test them in a few weeks.

Prolight is the lighter model and weighs £ 3.7. You will see the hefty hef in the carbon fiber travel trip tripod compared to 2.81 pounds – so far the first and single tripod of the peak design. This extra weight is highly justified and it comes from the hair head. We will talk about it soon.

The Pro Light is four inches long than the real travel tripod, with a strong and tall center column. This extra height is enough for me to record your camera parts on the surface of the eye. (For reference, I’m 6 ‘1 or 187 cm.)

Then there the Pro and the Pro are long. These tripods are heavy, long and have a burden of overweight than Pro Light. Most of the house I used to use pro and pro and pro -long tripods and added things like sliders and my heavy cinema camera rig.

All the new tripods of the peak design are made of carbon fiber, but only the Pro version will come in the silver option.

Every tripod is made of carbon fiber. Aluminum is not options, and everyone is light enough to bring with me anywhere. Even on Pro Long, 4.5 pounds, gave my waist a good break than my usual video tripod-a decade-old 5.5 pound of manifoto 055 with a 3.7 pound fluid video head. But, of these three, I found myself using the most of the Pro Light, since I try to keep my gear maximum hike or long photo during the walk. The main ballhead on all three tripods has a new quick release system that feels more secure than a travel tripod. The camera easily snatches the ARCA on the Swiss compatible plate, and a separate lock mechanism against the side of the hair head is flush. The locks, which did not have a travel tripod, trusted me more that I would not accidentally release it and leave the camera in a severe knock.

I have been using the first tripod of peak design since I was launched in 2020. Over time the hair head is damaged. It still works, but the lock is often trapped and it is difficult to release it once tightening. This new lock solves this problem.

I don’t know how this new ball head will perform in a few years, but I expect it to be better. A dedicated lock toggle that was not present in travel tripod means that you will not need to abolish the previous hardness system. Stability is one of the most important aspects of a tripod, and when you pay a premium price for someone, you hope it will continue for years. The Manfiro that I mentioned earlier has been using it for almost a decade.

One of my favorite new features is that it is very easy to turn into a vertical filming. It can easily turn the hair head to it. Travel tripod is the ability, but with limited measures. The new head can move freely in any direction. I like it!

The hair head panning was smooth, but there are no friction adjustments. It is either open or not, but it was able to handle my mirror -lace Fijfil XH2s and even my heavy cameras like Canon C70 well. However, if you want to include the tilt capabilities, you will need to connect a separate 9 149 (MSRP).

I assume that most readers looked at the score card and saw that I had added “Telt Module” under “good” and “bad” parts. Allow me to explain. On the one hand, it is annoying to pay extra for these accessories and I wish it to come with a tripod. On the other hand, I like that if you don’t intend to use it, you don’t have to pay the extra cost. One possible task is to use l brackets on your camera, flip the hair head for vertical filming and your built -in pan axis now becomes a tilt.

The tilt module draws on the hair head with its Swiss Arca base, just as the camera is. The expansive handle is magnetically linked to the back of the inclination mode. It is very smart. But bent accessories were not ideal for everything. Like a pan, there is no way to adjust the friction. It made it difficult to keep its highlights smooth and stable with heavy gear, such as 5o-140 mm lens with my Fazal XH2s.

There is also another option – you can use a different fluid video head, but you will need to attach a separate 9 129 (MSRP) Pro Leveling base. It replaces the hair head and has a very small column of the center. You can still quickly and easily equal it on uneven levels.

Each aspect of the tripod has been improved, including the locks of the flip, which now feel smooth and easy to disconnect and disconnect.

There is a small improvement. They have better leg locks, storage -masked center column, a hidden hex tool (you do not have to connect to one side, it is in the center column), and is an easy way to separate and clean the parts. Even the bag is a room. It is not a very hard fitting sock as before.

But are they worth the price? It depends on how you use your video tripods. Over the past few years, with better camera and lens stability, my video tripods have slowly decreased. During my review period, I finished using Pro Lite Tripai as a photo tripod compared to the video and gradually changed my original travel tripod. While the other two other video works on the lineup stayed in my studio. But each new tripod focuses on every pain point of the original travel tripod.
