Openi is officially on the Pentagon’s payroll. The Department of Defense announced a $ 200 million deal with Openi to provide new tools of artificial intelligence to the US government, including those used for active cyber defense.

In an outline of its latest contracts, the DOD said that the openness would develop the Protype Frontier AI capabilities to tackle the key challenges of national security in both the war and enterprise domains. This work will be mainly completed in Washington, DC region, which is estimated to be completed by July 2026.

Open said in a new blog post that the DOD contract is its first contribution to providing AI technology to federal, state and local government workers. According to the announcement, the company is offering a custom model for national security on a “limited basis”, Openi has said that all issues of use will have to comply with its policies and guidelines. Open’s current use policy bans its services from “developing or using weapons” and “preventing others or using property”.

Openi said, “This agreement will bring the opening industry’s leading expertise, with a $ 200 million roof, to help the Defense Department identify and type prototype, and how Frontier AI improves its management operations, serving members and their families to protect their health care, and to protect their families.

This is not the first time that Openi has a bed with the army, he entered into a partnership with the Andorial Industries in December 2024 and integrated his AI software into the Defense Tech Company’s Counterordone System. The new DOD contract is against the previous version of Openi’s service terms, which banned its technology from being used for “military and war”-the company was forbidden last year.
