Samsung is moving forward in the realm of precautionary care, with a new feature of coaching and personal welfare and blood analysis, keeping its galaxy clock aimed at preventing people from preventing illness and helping to develop a healthy age. I spoke to Dr. Han Pak, senior vice president of Samsung and head of digital health, to closely review what is coming to the galaxy watch and how can we change that we are able to wear.
“There is a disease, cancer, and many other conditions that can actually be stopped,” Pak told CNET. “We know that these behaviors are important, but in our busy lives, it is often difficult to maintain them. In Samsung, our mission is to meet people where they are and help these healthy behaviors in a meaningful way.”
It is expected that new tools will be debuted along the next galaxy clock in July, and also includes a non -vasoid blood test that helps to improve antioxidant levels (or carotinoids), cardiovascular health diagnosis, personal sleep coaching and direct impression.
Pak said, “We can really think that we bring this figure about sleep, nutrition, activity and stress, and make it a really context for the user.”
At a time when there is a smart watch for consumers and a cycle of wearing, Samsung aims to develop its galaxy watch in an active health monitor from a passive tracking device. The purpose is to control people on their health and keep them on a long -term track. With more than 68 million people worldwide on Samsung Health, the company hopes to eliminate the difference between this short snapshot shot of data collected in the doctor’s office and wearing health data that can help paint your full health picture.
The Galaxy Watch’s antioxidant index measures the level of antioxidant in your body without a blood sample. Just your thumb on the sensor.
Antioxidant detection, no needle needed
According to the National Institutes of Health, beta -carotene is the only example of naturally found carotinoids, or vegetable antioxidants that can help to neutralize toxic (free radicals) in the body. These toxins – are usually caused by stress, poor diet, smoking and aging – over time can also be helpful in serious precision problems such as cancer, heart disease and premature aging. Currently, one of the most common method of detecting the surface of the carotinoid is through the lab test by drawing your blood.
With a new feature called the Antioxidant Index, the next galaxy clock will be able to measure the surface of the carotide in the skin, which will immediately measure the carotide level in the skin without needles or labs. Instead, you keep your thumb for a few seconds on the back of the watch sensor.
“This is a unpleasant way to see how your diet and lifestyle is affecting your antioxidant levels,” said Pak. “We use four different wavelengths to detect beta -carotene in the skin. And we have confirmed the readings (from the Galaxy Clock) against the blood surface,”
On the galaxy clock, people will get a score of “low” to “appropriate” with some general guidance about habits to improve antioxidant levels. Long-term, Samsung is working on more target AI-drive recommendations associated with specific recipes, supplements, and nutritional projects.
“If your surface is low, we can recommend high -leaves green or sweet potatoes,” said Pak. “Finally, we want to connect it to personal recommendations through nutritional coaching and guidance tips.”
Galaxy Watch -driven smart tools develop a custom training plan to reach their goals that you go.
Is running
Samsung is also launching a 12 -minute run test to help the galaxy watch owners set up a baseline fitness level, which includes the initial (level One) to the marathon (Level 10). Once the diagnosis is completed, the clock will develop a personal training plan to help people reach specific distance goals, such as 10K or half marathon.
Like Apple’s new workout friend feature in Apple Watch, you will also find real -time motivation by the AI coach on the watch watch to push you through the run. Samsung’s AI coach will verbally guide such as “a bit tight” or “ease”, as well as adopt future workout plans based on your performance. When consumers develop, they will unlock the program’s dynamic and new training challenges.
It will also help you to contest the training by showing you how it is affecting other health indicators on the clock, such as VO2 Max, an important indicator of overall fitness. Finally, these health indicators can be used as training goals rather than distance goals to make a map of the training project.
“When we clearly target more and more players, it will be something that people want to do,” said Pak. “It’s a teaser for it.”
The feature of bedtime at bedtime provides you with a maximum sleep and weekend window that keeps your individual circidine rhythm and sleep debt.
Sleep
Sleep is another basic puzzle in Samsung’s comprehensive approach to sleep care, and a major indicator of overall health, Pak. Poor sleep is linked to long -term risks such as dementia, cardiovascular disease and obesity.
He said, “There are many repairs of both physical and mental body.
A new feature called Guidance at bedtime contains the current sleep tracking tools of the Galaxy Watch, such as analysis of the sleeping stage and the detection of sleeplessness, making personal recommendations for maximum sleep and waking hours. It begins with a three -day analysis of your sleep habits to determine your unique circidine rhythm and sleep pressure (also known as sleep debt). From there, the clock provides suitable suggestions to help improve your sleep -based total sleep time and energy scores such as the metrics.
Instead of sending just a common reminder to get 8 hours of sleep, guidance at bedtime recommends personal sleep and weekend window. The goal is to help you recover from poor or irregular sleep nights and improve the vigilance during the day. Therefore, for example, if you were a jet league, this feature (theoretically) can help reduce your sleep debt and bring back your sleep schedule on track quickly.
When the Galaxy Watch, your Galaxy Phone, and when available, you take a more important approach to coaching by factoring in the real -world inputs of your Galaxy Phone and other Samsung devices. For example, it can suggest improving your sleep environment by reducing the thermostat or darkering the room.
“We have smartings associated with Samsung, so it can overcome things like your environment, moisture, temperature, light, or automatic blinds. We also have medical features like sleep detection. After just two nights, we are able to detect sleep signs of sleeplessness.
The vascular load on the Galaxy clock makes the pressure measure on your heart (or vascular system) during sleep.
The vascular load puts pressure on the heart
Another new matriculation is the vascular burden, which reflects the overall tension on your heart and vascular system while sleeping. Stress that should be ideally less overnight. Pak, the galaxy watch, uses plus wave analysis and optical sensors to track trends in the arteries, hardness and overall cardiovascular tension. This reading translation is done on a lesser than a higher scale to help you understand how behavior (such as sodium or alcohol) can contribute to the long -term risk of heart disease.
“Poor sleep, bad diet or chronic stress can raise your vascular burden,” said Pak. “This is a way we are trying to show these contacts in a meaningful, measuring way.”
These features will be available on new watches such as the Galaxy Watch Ultra and the Galaxy Watch 7, but vary in terms of the types of sensors available.
Who is these features, and how much will they cost?
The new features are part of the One UI8 Watch, which will be available on the latest Galaxy Watch series starting this month, through a beta program (currently limited to US and South Korean users, with Galaxy Watch 5 or more new). The vascular load and the antioxidant index is being introduced as the properties of the labs, which means they are experimental and available for the initial preview before their official release.
It is expected that all these features will be formally launched with the next Galaxy Watch, which we are expecting to come in July. The availability of each specific feature will mostly depend on whether modern LED sensors in your Galaxy watch are essential to provide them with electricity. Vascular load and antioxidant index, for example, will only be available Galaxy Watch Ultra and later, while the running coach feature will require Galaxy Watch 7 or after.
Prices are still in the air. During our interview, the company said it was looking for a premium subscription model like Fit Bit Premium or Garman’s new connection plus, which requires monthly subscriptions to unlock modern coaching features. Ideally, features will be added free of charge with a new watch, while older models can access them behind the paywell. We will update this article as soon as the Samsung model shares more details about the eligibility and prices.

Samsung’s future health plans
Pak advised that the optical glucose measurement cannot be far away. Since Samsung has continued to search for non -Vasio Medical Testing, it is clear that the company sees a growing role as a daily health tracking and prevention career. Samsung’s goal is to make clinical level insights accessible at home before a problem becomes serious and transforming wear data into viable guidance.
“We believe that fitness is not the only thing,” said Pak. “It is combined with activity, nutrition, mental health and sleep.”
Whether it all works according to the intention (and whether people really remain with it), Samsung’s execution will be dependent. But one thing is clear, Samsung is making a serious game to turn your wrist into a real center of health.
