- SNAP will launch a new pair of AR smart glasses in 2026, known as Spaces.
- Glasses will go to Snap OS and support AI -powered features such as translations, gaming, and 3D materials.
- Unlike the spectators of 2024, the sunglasses will be not just developers, but for consumers.
Despite repeated waves of apathy, tech companies will not come to the quest to put a computer on our faces. The latest Hardware announcement comes from Snap Chat, a parent company, Snap, launching a new pair of smart glasses, known as the Spacitus in 2026.
These are not just another pair of camera glasses, such as the initial repetition of the company’s spectators. Snap is giving them pitching as a computer capable of fully wearing the reality (AR), which has lenses, AI integration, and built -in local computing through eyes. Snap says it has been more than a decade and more than $ 3 billion has passed in glass growth, which has been described as “lightweight” but “extremely powerful”.
According to the press release, the sunglasses will be able to understand the world around you using machine learning, help in real -time translations and AI -driven tasks, and even support combined experiences with multi -player games and friends. You will also be able to browse the web, stream content and get cooking instructions while keeping your hands free.
The company has been building it for a while. He released the fifth generation of his spectators in 2024, which aimed to have developers rather than consumers, and says the initial testers are already developing some experiments, which they hope they will make the fountains useful next year. It contains things like a travel app that translates symbols and changes the currencies, looking for recipes based on what is in your kitchen, and a drumming tutor that points to a real drum cut.
Snap has also updated its Snap OS platform with a group of new features aimed at developers. This includes improvements such as local mapping, real -time language processing, and 3D material production. The idea is to make all kinds of AR experiments easier, whether they are tied to specific locations or run directly from the browser.
We do not yet know how much they will look like, how much they will cost, or how long the battery can last. But Snap clearly hopes that 2026 will be the year that its long -running AR project will eventually go into the mainstream.
