Last year, I played with Snap’s latest AR glasses, behind the famous social media app Snap Chat. Glasses allow me to play multi -player games in the real world, they worked outside and used AI. The ones I experienced were for developers, not everyday people.

Snap AR spectators are being sold in 2026. I talked to Snap CEO House Spiegel to expect what to be expected. It promised a small design, a better battery life and more AI features. They will work without the need for a phone, but they will be more crowded in the glass landscape.

Many tech companies are working on getting smart glasses on your face. These devices promise to integrate with the real world to enhance the truth with information, sports and more. Meta is doing it, Google is doing it, Apple is probably doing this and Snap has been doing for years, she released her snap spectacle in 2020. The 2026 version of Snap glasses can lead to its rivals in the AR glass race. It aims to bring sports and 3D mutual cooperation experiences for big audiences, but at unknown price and design. This is what we know so far.

Small snap AR spectacle, a better life of the battery

I have tried Snap AR spectators several times since last year. They float the 3D graphics in the real world with transparent lenses using the View Guide and Internal Projector. These include built -in hand tracking by cameras, such as VR devices such as hybrid Quest 3 And like the future AR glasses The orange of the meta. But his battery life was very short: just about 45 minutes. And they look much larger and fat than other smart glasses like glasses, or other smart glasses of glass.

Spiegel says that ARPs (Snap Calls Lenses) are built for developer spectators will work on incoming glasses, but it will “be” in one part of the weight and a ton of a ton in a small form. “

I mentioned my concern about battery life. Spiegel replied, “Battery life will improve dramatically.” “And, you know, once again, it will depend on this task. If you are actually doing heavy duty and deep work in AR compared to more inactive browsing or streaming, you will see differences in battery life.”

It also looks like these incoming glasses will have better display, or at least more compact. “In this next generation, the optical engine will have some beautiful meaningful improvement in the wave guide,” said Spiegel. “This is a part of something that enables the form factor and capacity.”

Standstone but not exactly ‘everyday’ glasses

Like the current Snap AR spectators released last year, these new glasses are also designed to work on their own. “They will be completely standing, but if you want to use it as a controller with the phone with your phone or something like this, we offer developers a lot of these services.”

Snap glasses currently use phones either if handheld remote or motion controllers want to build in support of apps. They use hand tracking and a pinch and a gastain system to overcome the OS.

Don’t expect that they will really change your daily glasses. No one has made glasses of reality throughout the day throughout the day, and the sound of the snap does not come as they have done. “I will not say that they are essentially designed to wear all day, though anyone can use them as if they want,” said Spiegel. “Where we focus more focus is towards the ability to enable the real computing experiences. I wouldn’t think of it as a smartphone. I would think about it as a complete feature computer.”

A depth sensing device will allow AI to recognize the 3D environment.

    Snap

AI, including Gemini, who can see your 3D world

Snap, one of the new AR tools, has been announced that you can distribute the scanned depth map of your area with AI services on the ship on glasses. Spiegel calls it “local intelligence”, and this is not something I have yet discussed through any other glasses or headset makers. This can allow the model AI to get an understanding of your own space, and potentially connect it with other data. Spiegel said these tools “can help you guide the labeling items around you or that you do something to do something, not through a text or voice -based interface, but in fact with you in the world.”

Snap also received support for Google’s Gemini AI on his spectators, which may already contact Chat GPT. Supporting various AI services is a part of the Pitch of Spiegel so that Snap AR glasses also work as AI platform. Snap’s spectators are not part of it Google’s Android XR Environmental System Still, but Spiegel is open to him: “We would like to make sure that more and more spectators interfere with other platforms and services. This is a part of a great customer’s provision, and definitely what we are thinking about.”

The camera -driven AI also brings its own questions of privacy. The purpose of a new tool called smart gate is to remove camera data from the wall and prevent it from leaking out of glass, an important feature as more AI apps will be able to access home depth maps and camera data. How will Snap defeat this balance? It remains to be seen. “Trying to make our system an architect that developers and consumers can gain full power without compromising on privacy, is something that is really important to us,” said Spiegel. It is an area in which every AI-capable glass maker has to visit.

There are already many increased realistic game apps on snap spectators, and we can expect more with the features of a multi -player. Here was viewed: Pool Assist by Studio ANR.

    Snap

Multi Player Games are a large part of snap pitch

The last time I tried them, I conducted a lot of short game experiments, and Snap glasses can cooperate with other people in real -world places. Think about the Lego brick construction, or outdoor virtual laser tags with mutual cooperation.

The game looks like a large part of the point of view of the Snap, especially the multi -player. “One of the things that is most interesting to me, because it really combines people in a commonplace,” Spiegel said. “I remember when I was playing N64 and was having a baby at home and playing together, but I think that the concept of the joint game takes a very new level, because you can run out and share these experiences.”

This is a unique feature for the spectators with mutual cooperation, and it can give birth to some entertainment game ideas, and may pave the way for the upcoming outdoor AR support apps.

Expect real world installations and demo

When I asked how these spectators would be sold, Spiegel did not give a certain answer, but it seems that the purpose is to promote demo’s experimental opportunities. While Meta -ray Bans And Google’s upcoming AI glasses Will be sold in optical shops, Snap is used to sell its spectators out of the sky popup vending machines.

“We have a lot of fun thinking about different ways of distributing species,” said Spiegel.

Museums, art exhibitions, popup events or probably the theme parks can also be part of it. “We have seen a lot of demand for location -based experiences, and that’s why we are issuing some new tools, especially for people who are trying to design experiences around museums or monuments, or such joint sports experiences.”

Snap AR glasses may emerge in some real -world experience that you will try to think about buying. And may be the best way for any AR glasses in the future to prove what they can do.
