- Introducing some new tools in Apple’s iOS 26 maps that keep an eye on your favorite places.
- Navigation will introduce a priority path based on the history of your movement.
- While ensuring your privacy, you can find out where you are.
A good navigation app is the one that is going to give you some options, understanding that there is more than one way to go from point A to point B, and acknowledge that you can have personal preference. Google Map already offers you with numerous routes, and can even remember some preferences, such as avoiding tools, or wants to go along the extremely environmentally friendly path (whether it takes a little longer). Today, during its WWDC 2025 key note, Apple announced some new features for its maps app, including a smart route prefance tool that wants to think about copying Google.
With Apple maps in iOS 26, the app will start paying attention to your regular routine, and will use this information to make decisions about your BRIST -developed route options. If you like to take some streets, or swing according to a destination whenever you are in this area, the maps can keep it in mind when routing.
As we expect, it is not kept in stone, and the app will still take into account the current situation, when you are advised that when alternate routes may be better choices than your generally preferred choice – for example, helps you avoid poor delays.
In addition to Root’s preferences, Apple maps are also learning to pay attention to your favorite places, and will start to find out what the phone is at its shrine. It is mainly like the view of the “locations” in your Google Maps timeline, and like Google’s cloud backup it is all encrypted from the end that Apple cannot see itself-even if you value your privacy but still appreciate such insights of your travel offerings.
A major platform event like today is about to misbehave with the allegations that who copied-some good warrants, others faster. We are not going to fuel this fire anymore in this second, but Google: Maybe think about taking two or two pages from the Apple Maps Playbok?
