Microsoft is now allowing Windows 11 Tests to try a new, larger start menu, which includes a scriptable interface, new visions and more customization. The preliminary version of the new start menu began to appear first in Windows 11 Bloods in April, followed by Microsoft’s official announcement in May. The release of today’s giant channel allows you to formally try for the first time.
The Windows Internal Team explains, “We’re making your apps easier to launch with our latest, Scroll Start menu. This Scroll Start menu means that all apps are now on top level, so you don’t need to navigate to the second page to find your apps.
You will also be able to disable the recommended section so you can see more of your apps, and choose two new feedback: category and grid. The default category view groups apps, and the grid view is given more order in terms of traditional list views.
Microsoft has also made the start menu larger on the basis of your device or the screen size of the monitor. “On large devices, users can expect to see 8 columns, 6 recommendations, and 4 category columns in the start menu,” says the team. “On small devices, you will see 6 columns of pin apps, 4 recommendations, and 3 columns of the category.”
The start menu also has a new mobile device button that allows you to expand or fall to the phone link interface that appears along with the start menu. Microsoft is also allowing Windows 11 users to select what you appear to be a lock screen widget, which allows you to add a widget or remove it and reset for the lock screen.
